ME: Hey Mom, what do you think of this screentone I chose for the force-field?
MOM: It looks like a dirty shoe-print. Try a different one.
ME: (tries a few more) Hey what about this one?
MOM: I like that one better.
ME: But it’s too weird.
MOM: It’s surreal.
ME: But it’s supposed to look like a ball of energy. The other one looked brighter at least…
MOM: Why don’t we try using them both?
ME: (tries it).
MOM/ME: Oooooooooh…

Aaand I switched it to overlay mode which looks even better! Man I wish I knew about this stuff sooner

Well, I don't use Medibang but also you can try to change the "layer color" instead the tone color. Plus, you can reduce the opacity of the layer to give a transparency effect.

Niiiice! You could try using it in "overlay" mode (and in white color to give the definitive shinning effect) ;)

Can you change the colour of screentones in Medibang Paint? If you can I definitely haven’t figured that out yet lol. Thanks for the feedback!!
