The discussion gets a little more heated. Nadlan finally says the obvious. Falkimir should become High King. But would he just be shooting himself in the foot? Only Duke Darran openly supports him and everyone one won't say one way or the other. But there might be more to the picture as Count Armen indicates. The map in the corner gives a clue. There are other neutral leaders on the Northern island. Alerain of Baslorgorlan is one. Darran is married to Alerain's sister and Severnus is his half-brother. Alerain was the legitimate son and Severnus was the bastard. Severnus became a professional soldier and never looked back. Eslan is the largest of the kingdoms on the Southern Island. It's population in predominantly elves and it is ruled by the High Queen of the Elves who actually rules all the elves world wide, but this is her personal kingdom. (Think of England. The king rules Aquitaine, Anjou, Maine, Normandy and Provence but his actual kingdom is England) Also on the Southern Island are two duchies directly ruled by Norsemen that did supply troops for the invasion, a fragmented Nasnor that refuses to elect the heir the crown and Enlandom, the kingdom of the dwarves.
The dialogue and even the entire feel of the give and take of these pages was changed. Before it was a dry travelogue listing one country or another. Now the references are less explicit and more in the context of the situation.
The costumes are from all kinds of sources. Orshia's outfit is from a Buffy the Vampire Slayer outfit with accessories from Blackbeard and Lord of the Rings. A defunct company Ignite made a series of early Medieval knights and Vikings and different retailers would sell the individual parts so I stocked up on bits and pieces. Dragon did some historical figures including some knights from a forgettable movie. Most of the parts and outfits here are from figures from over ten years ago. The images themselves were shot back in 2006.
And remember with the Drunk Duck Awards coming up remember this comic when voting. Snappy, quotable dialogue; costumes and character design; action sequences; Falkimir for protagonist; Halfdan, Ragnar for supporting characters; best fantasy; best non-traditional media; best backgrounds. Make this comic just blanket the nominations so it can finally get the readership you know it deserves.
this page is well put together Bravo. these pages must take forever to make with all the detail and those great outfits the characters wear. How did the idea for this story come about? What inspired this?
I like politics back then better!! The price of losing was higher...!! @Banes: I played Risk with some people a while back... Wow how did that ever get popular!! :D Now, today at the bookstore I saw Risk: Game of Thrones addition - that looked interesting!
Throat cutting? How crude. Be-heading. After a suitable trial of course. Treason is a crime invented by the winners in a political struggle to legally kill all the losers.

This comic was written in 2006, before Game of Thrones. But there is a war game version of this. In fact the map was originally done on hex paper.

And they're just playing an ancient version of "Risk". Wait until the REAL political discussions begin. THAT gets heated!

In politics, where there's a will, there's always a way. Especially if you don't mind cutting a few throats along the way. Or a few thousand.
