The two noble officers continue their discourse. Originally there was a collage of panels showing sex going on, but in the first rewrite it got cut down to this.

The table, dice and coins were all scratch built from plastic. I now have individual 1/6 scale coins that I found on eBay. They'll show up in future installments. The provosts wear a distinctive bright red surcoat and one here is also a member of King Falkimir's household. A wine colored tunic is the uniform of the Elegon infantry and was issued from royal stores.

The baton Fresdrul carries is not only a sign of rank, but also doubles as a club. Like a Roman Centurion he could use to to discipline unruly soldiers. But tonight, let the soldiers have their fun. Except if they're using loaded dice. The cheater's costume indicates he isn't a regular soldier and in fact may be a con man who only joined the army to bilk the soldiers of their pay.

Though not stated, the soldiers were paid recently which is another reason there are so many coins still around. Sometimes it was a good idea to pay soldiers just after a battle so they'd have something to look forward to if they survived. Some armies paid just before a battle to raise the army's morale. That could also lead to an unexpected windfall to battlefield looters. To prevent this some army's insisted soldiers leave all personal belongings in the care of someone who didn't go into battle. That could lead to other problems as the camp then became a target and was attacked by enemy cavalry as happened at Agincourt.
