Thanks for your support. Please if you haven't, please do the “like” thing. And freaking comment. A few sparing words mean a lot to me. I don't need an ode of praise. Just one thing you like or one thing that could be improved.
Lately I've been checking back on saved pages before posting only to discover weird formatting errors. Things like the font on a word balloon changed or the text off center. Stuff caused by a random mouse click just before I go to control -s to save. Have to watch for everything anymore.
The telescope was completely scratch-built from plastic. I also built a smaller one with a leather case for my Sharpe figure. The handgonne is an accessory from the Marx knight figures. A few years ago they did a special re-issue and because I loved them so much as a kid I bought as many as I could afford. Tons of accessories in nearly unpaintable plastic but it's stuff I couldn't find anywhere else. If this ever gets that far there is even horse armor.
That's a big if.
Would I be better off going back to T&A grindhouse? I'm not as sensitive about that as I am about this. This was supposed to be special and different and I am putting a lot more into it as opposed to the usual action schlock fest.
Though there are some ideas for the rewrite where I could go down that road and just leave this a pleasant prelude.
You know Falkimir may be promised to Illya, but it seems he has some chemistry with Glorianna. Wait, Glorianna is really Illya's big sister Arianne – you don't think–?
I guess this is no surprise coming from me, but I've never felt that serious drama and grindhouse need be exclusive to one another. You can have a serious drama that also has generous helpings of skin and white-knuckle action. That seems to be Game of Thrones' recipe and it's worked well enough for them!
Also, I love the richness of this world (the built-in history and myth, the characters, the wardrobes and accessories...) so I personally prefer this over something concentrating on T&A... but I get your thinking. It's hard to put a lot of your soul into something and feel you're not getting enough back (bad soul econimics ;))
Hey, bring it on!! I just meant I like this story where that's not the main focus - doesn't mean it can't be in there at all!!! And of course, you can never have too many bare chested historical dudes (sigh... gotta watch 300 again now!) But hey, don't go by me! :D
I thought that was a handgonne!! :D With its build, looks like such things are around in the larger world. In this area, would they think it magic? Or are they quick to accept mechanical things? And of course the gal knows how to hold the long, extending telescope right!! (great job building that thing, btw)
I'll catch up with the story, but it'll take some time to reach the current page. You know, I always start from the beginning ^^ (I'm still on Book one.).
I had a silver Marx knight figure and horse. Could not have been five or so. Perhaps younger. My cousin had the silver and gold one. With horses.
Also had a lot of Johnny West stuff. Including the Little Joe and Ben Cartwrights figures from the Bonanza series.
I had the silver knight as well as Captain Maddox the cavalry man. Now I have a bunch of the accessory sets, one silver, two black and four blue knights. I wanted The hand guns, halbreds and crossbows as well as the armor. The figure is actually closest to an early 16th century man-at-arms like one who did the caracole tactics of combat in the wars of the Renaissance or a conquistador.

Recipe is so different from result. I have a couple of scripts to go down the Spartacus: blood and sand route. Maybe more raunchy and less angst.

Well damn, he just gets all the cool toys, doesn't he! (and all the lady folk!)

It's good to be the king.

Well there goes the topless Amazonian archers, the nude torture scenes and Glorreaka's orgies. How about the male bare chested slave mercenaries?

Great page. A handgonne? Was wondering what that was. Just did a internet search for them. :)

Gonne became gun and the rest is history.
