Alternate punchline: Vent appeared in Martin and Val's apartment, and was waiting for them there the entire time they were waiting for him.

This is the first time I've noticed how well Val blends in with the floor of the convenience store, which makes me think that this might be the first time she's been in the convenience store since the move, and also since the strip where Vent was introduced, even though she works there.
