20. Army Green Was No Safe Bet

I got the idea for this one while watching the movie Scream. I was thinking about how the characters had an advantage over other teenagers in slasher movies because they were aware that they were in a horror movie. And, a good number of them were cognizant of the cliches of the film genre they were trapped in.

If there was ever another group of film characters who would benefit from such a level of awareness it would be those in a war movie.

In order to make the figures in the comic strip look more movie-esque I didn't model them on actual real-life soldiers. I instead used old 1950's comic books as a reference. (Joe Kubert on Sgt. Rock to be specific)

I actually think that this strip came out looking pretty damn good. I don't know if it's funny or not, but I definitely think it's one of the better-drawn Capital of Helsinki comics.
