Chapter Three: Page 17
Doctor Shadow on Nov. 30, 2008
Whilst looking at this I had the lyrics to a popular song pop into my head, seems to fit too.
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tommorow, no tommorow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Tears for Fears: Mad World

VERY GOOD ART!

I expected Leyland to get eaten by now. I figured this scene was going to be a "guy you hate gets his just desserts" scene, but now I'm starting to wonder. You've got something planned for this guy. You can't fool me. :)

Warped: I've always loved that song. As for LoK, yeah, you're not the only one *grin* Cortesnyc: Thanks! Steely: Mad World is a great song. Heh, as for nightmares...it's only going to get more nightmarish in this small aside, we hope.
Doctor Shadow at 4:16AM, Dec. 2, 2008
amanda: You recognise where that is right, Pattis Buns ;) Cain: Cheers! trevora: ta Zephyrion: many thanks Starwolf: cheers for that
Steely Gaze at 5:11PM, Dec. 1, 2008
Run Leyland! Run! But I feel you might not be able to run fast enough.... Wow, this is like something out of my nightmares! A giant dog...being forced to run...at least Leyland isn't naked, right? :P I don't listen to enough Tears for Fears. I can't remember if I've heard that one before.... Hmm, only one way to find out....
Warpedwenger at 3:59PM, Dec. 1, 2008
Oh I love that song! Also Vie Victis! That always makes me think of Legacy of Kain.
amanda at 8:15AM, Dec. 1, 2008
I love the words in panel 1 - that's a really interesting way to put it ^.^ Buns! There's an annual race in town called "Runs Your Buns Off" - and I'm reminded of it now, heh.
Azarr at 5:30AM, Dec. 1, 2008
I just hope they get it over at gog.com. Would be nice playing it again.
Doctor Shadow at 5:27AM, Dec. 1, 2008
Loud_G: I'll explain afterwards, perhaps in a Gazeteer entry - a little bit about the Lands of the Dead and the cosmology of Hestonia in that respect. DAJB: Thanks man!
Doctor Shadow at 5:22AM, Dec. 1, 2008
Azarr: It is indeed a homage to the Legacy of Kain game, it turns up in an earlier update. There's someone (or something) that was very fond of leaving blood drawn phrases and words all over the port's walls. There's a hint in the Gazeteer entry under Bell Alley.
DAJB at 5:21AM, Dec. 1, 2008
Damn, but it's been a long time since I played any Tears for Fears. Must go and dust down some of those old vinyl platters and see if ye olde gramophone still works! And, yes, Mad World complements this sequence perfectly!
Loud_G at 5:18AM, Dec. 1, 2008
Very cool :D I love how he has his own 'dead' version of the entire city. Very interesting.
Azarr at 5:14AM, Dec. 1, 2008
Vae Victis! Woe to the conquered indeed. Even if he is only one person. Naturally makes me think of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Fun game. Though I never finished it.. Can't remember why though.
Doctor Shadow at 5:07AM, Dec. 1, 2008
M0rgan: mucho thanks!
Doctor Shadow at 5:03AM, Dec. 1, 2008
Crimsonsky: Thanks. Reva does such a good job taking my initial writing and transforming it. I always have a blast re-lettering usually because her art is so evocative.
Crimsonskystudio at 4:57AM, Dec. 1, 2008
The song goes well with this scene great work!
