Many ancient cultures believed in 4, or 5, elements. Earth, air, water and fire being the most common. Some tried to add a 5th element. This varied widely from Wood, in many oriental cultures, to Spirit or even Void. There are probably some I've never heard of too. I think Randall Garett summed it up best, in his Lord Darcy series, when he pointed out the 4 ancient elements conform to the 4 states of matter. These were Solid, Liquid, Gaseous and Plasma (energized matter such as is in the Sun). I'm just sorry he died before writing more in the series since it was ground breaking. The very first Fantasy novel that wasn't Sword and Sorcery. Without it we might not have the variety of Fantasy available to us today.

Flame usually just destorys everything in it's patch and is nearly impossible to stop. so I guess it is fitting to this class. :)
