If a wolf kills livestock, the owner can file a claim under Wolf Depredation Compensation, and get reimbursed for the value of the slain animals. Unfortunately, some owners complain that the proof that it was a wolf that killed their livestock is too hard to meet, or that the compensation they get back isn't enough to cover the real value of the animal. And on the other side, the Gov't Departments in charge have to make sure that they're not getting frauded, so it often takes more than just a patch of blood on the ground to prove a claim is valid. It's complicated, and neither side is happy.
.
So, even though it is against federal law to hunt wolves in many areas (or without a license), many ranchers take matters into their own hands, and kill local wolves as discreetly as possible.
.
As Plymayer guessed last page, it's hunters alright, just not the hunters after Kimber Lee (surely those guys haven't given up already ;).
.
Artwise, I'm still experimenting (even after all these pages). I'm trying a ‘looser’ technique, that involves using dark, loose outlines more. I try it for several pages, and since I'm many pages ahead, I'll go ahead and tell you I don't stick with it :P
.
Thanks for reading everyone :)

I think they are about to find out whose footprints they are! hehe

@PaulEberhartd: Yes, it seems if ranchers go to some effort to protect their herds (via fences or dogs) wolves will tend to leave them alone. Wolves are opportunists - they go for the easiest prey; they won't fight a bunch of dogs if they don't have to. Some ranchers say differently *shrug* but sometimes I feel they just don't want to go through the trouble and expense of getting good fences and well-trained dogs.

Goes to show that wolves are much better than their reputation. In my country it's comparatively easy to get compensation for livestock lost to wolves, but they want to have a look at your fence first. In those places where fences are not on option some dog breeds get a comeback that were specifically bred for protecting herds. They were quite commonplace a few centuries ago, but had almost been forgotten in the time when no wolves were around.

Yup, the two 'bumpkins' are about to have an encounter with Big... err... Petite-Foot!

Oh man, getting close here. She's good at being sneaky xD.

@Banes: I hear you. I tend to be a skeptic first when tackling the mysterious. Nevertheless, I never shut the door completely. I'll never say Bigfoot doesn't exist, although I feel certain enough he doesn't that I don't bother with most 'proof' stories; even so, I'd grin ear-to-ear if someone found incontrovertible proof of one :))

@KimLuster - Weeelllll...I don't know. But ever since I was a kid I've loved the Sasquatch. I guess...I guess I WANT to believe! :D
KimLuster at 4:40AM, Nov. 14, 2013
@Plymayer: Exactly! I've had dreams that were incredibly realistic, save that I was capable of doing something against physics (flying, jumping real high...). I'd do something in such dreams in an attempt to 'prove' I was NOT dreaming, and I would be successful, and I would be ecstatic, thinking I could really do amazing things. Waking up from those dreams is extra rough! Now... what if I never woke up from such a dream...? There's lots of metaphysics and ontological philosophy devoted to these dilemmas.

Had a strange dream today. There was someone in the house coming up the stairs (I live in a one story apartment - the house is a dream house that some times gets into my dreams it combines various places I've lived over my lifetime). I trying to yell at the shadowy figure and was fighting to recover real world consciousness at the same time. Do not know if I 'actually' yelled out in the real world but it woke me up. If only to roll over and go back to sleep. My point being who really ever knows?
KimLuster at 7:52AM, Nov. 13, 2013
Thanks Banes - so...Sasquatch... are you a believer? ;)
Banes at 7:44AM, Nov. 13, 2013
Looking great - and bonus points for a Sasquatch reference!

Thanks Plymayer, I'm glad you think the art is improving - sometimes I want to pull my hair out because it doesn't seem to be getting any better to me haha. And the dream theme won't ever go away completely. It will continue to rear its head. I've had some readers get frustrated, thinking Kimber Lee should know she's not dreaming by now (or still is). If anyone can give me a definitive answer on how she can know with absolute certainty (either way) I'll write it in.
plymayer at 7:11AM, Nov. 13, 2013
Adds to the whole dream like quality too.

As the story progresses, your artwork improves and changes. Becomes brighter and ever more exciting.
