I think the reason this has lasted so long was lack of overall plot. Almost every update can be read on it's own, so there is no need to keep track of a lot. And you don't have to worry about making things fit one storyline. I also just imagined Hogan as an old man using his axe as a walking stick yelling at cameos and their writers to keep off his lawn.

Hmmm ... actually, I think that while lot of comics won't last more than year and the mortality remains high in few following years, the ones which survived 10 years have good chance to survive 20 and more ...
