A fan from day one, it seems. As for audiences, this stirs memories of those in the remote village and small-town pubs when I still played in a world's worst band, way back. There didn't happen to be any aspiring dictators from faraway places among them (even our manager hasn't instigated a coup d'état in his home country so far, but instead raised a few eyebrows by getting a proper job and starting a family), but I'm certain that it wouldn't have struck anyone as particularly odd in comparison with the rest of the crowd... Ok, not crowd. Handful. And mostly the same people, which is incidentally why I'm so sure our audiences were relatively dictator-free. The places were invariably tiny and dingy, and we WERE crap. One or two of the pub owners even suggested that we'd be better off taking an exit fee rather than an admission charge (but they let us play gigs anyway because nobody else would). ... Whoops! Sorry for my drifting away in old memories.

Thanks for that. It's just the trip through memory lane this comic is meant to be and imitation of.

@bravo and fallopian: If you go to an English University it's amazing what you can end up experiencing.

I know what you mean, I went to college with Sister Soulja and Callista Flockhart.

Things were a lot simpler back in the Reagan decade. Future dictators could wander around to town halls to listen to bands.

Hmmmm, now what was the President of Somethingstan up to in Barnett town hall that fateful eve?
