The panel where he is giving up his mortality was inspired by a panel in Full metal alchemist. The 4th panel with the shadow, make sure to look hard, you'll see teeth and an eyeball, basically a monster. I've had this character for a while, this is vague, but its spiffy, so enjoy :D
