Thanks Joe, I was wondering how Garfield survived long enough to keep Jon there. He could also have broken Jon's legs to keep him in the chair, then gotten up and eaten occasionally. but that wouldn't explain the rapid decay of Jon's flesh.
In the two months between the second to last and last panel, Garfield ate all of Jon's flesh and did his business over the side of the chair. That explains both how Garfield could remain on his lap for so long and why Jon's bones are all that's left of his body. I know I've overanalyzed it.
