Rich is correct, lately Drunk Duck has finally began to shake off the "EVERYONE GETS A 5" attitude.
I assume you've never dealt with Drunk Duck before, so let me explain. Almost EVERYONE gets rated a 5, so it usually don't mean much, especially those who just rate a 5 and say nothing.
While I admit, a lot of the people who don't like the comic may seem harsh, myself included, you'd be a fool to completely silence or ignore them. The fact you havent' muted them yet has already put you leaps and bounds ahead in progress than many other comics here.
Not MiddleGround is not better than me. They don't even come close to me.
They aren't the bigger picture. All it is is a friggin' sprite comic circle jerk. At least DD puts emphasis on the community.
You're not gonna get famous on DD with this. HECK! most comics don't even get famous. I know a few comics that have one or two hundred pages and the most comments they've ever gotten on a page is two. Just stick with your comic and you'll get a few.
Mate, seriously, you can't get famous on Drunk Duck doing any sort of tournament, and you're lucky if you got famous just doing it on a forum.
Plus, think of it this way. Suppose this DOES become famous. Then what? You're going to keep on doing this because it's what the people want. Not a lot of folks here like tournament comics for several reasons. They're boring, they have no humor or character development, and they rarely have a plot.
However, if you're just doing this to get the hang of making a comic, then perhaps I could be of assisstance. I have a forum where you could put your tournament thing up if you wanted for practice. My members won't like it, but at least you'd be getting some good feedback on the graphical quality of it.
So what do you say?
You can contact me by commenting on my comics and leaving contact info, or you can request my contact info in a comment. I have AIM, MSN, and Yahoo.
While you are very kind in your comments, I do have to ask... just what the shit fuck is this?
A comic it ain't, least you can admit that. But please, get on the ball, fast.
Well I'm trying to get well known before I start my real comic
Doing sprite tourneys will get you known, but not for the reasons you want.
Yeah, seriously dude. You need to take Rich and Shadowmaster's advice here.
If you want to start a real comic, START A REAL COMIC. Obviously you know how to sprite, spell, and add effects, so you're already a cut above some others.
But there are WAY more than enough tournament comics already, and the vast majority of them don't get past the first couple of comics due to bad organisation and just general disinterest.
Consider this, y'know, a friendly warning. I look forward to reading your actual comic.
@Shadowmaster: Yes, I know most don't fnish, and I won't promise anything special for this. I can try, and with luck, this will turn out better then most comics like this. I plan to use PCS2 for the FX, so it won't be all Painty, you know what I mean? BUt this page was a total rush job. A two is a very accurate score.
Well I'm trying to get well known before I start my real comic, so I thought this would be a fun idea. And yes, it isn't a comic. I said I would update with a comic tomorrow. Obviously, this is not one.
It's good that you know the difference, but please, your only sounding stupid by missing a point that I so obbviously made not more then a page ago. I don't mind your comment, or you one.
See, it's unwarrented attacks like this that have earned your site a bad name. Your not helping that.
Thanks for the advice about the background. Next time I'll add some Phtoshop CS2 brush effects.
Uhh, rich, most of the people we go after can't SPELL innovation without help; much less create some.
But yeah, Tourney comics never finish, and are usually really boring.
Ok, this is NOT a comic. This is a bracket! And the recolors are mostly pretty ugly.
I don't know what this obsession is with tournaments, but couldn't you at least TRY to break the mold or something?
Like ya know, add a story? Keep all the characters in one bittage? Make pages like this at least look interesting?
Hell, couldn't you have AT LEAST made it look like it was on a piece of paper or a wooden board or a computer screen?
What is it with the lack of originality and innovation these days?
