Loooove using Painter. “Mr. Sulu, set your software on ”stun…ning." Today it just happened to be a Fish Tale … See y'all tomorrow with another post. Be well.
I've used GIMP before with similar effectiveness as Photoshop. There is some transition difficulty, and it's not quite as versitle as PS, but it also contains features like animation capability that you can't get with PS. I've heard that GIMPshop is available as a close approximation to PS, so you may want to track that down if you're familiar with PS. Photoshop CS is over $600, so I would definately try GIMP first.
Painter costs $369. If this is too much, other programs may do. Check out my Computoredge article about Painter, Photoshop and other, lower cost software:

Reminds me of the pet store I was at over the weekend. Some of the fish were so dead they were on the bottom of the tank.
Hey, if you let the green stuff grow, then you don't have to feed the fish, they can graze off the inside of the tank. ;)
Really great job with the artwork!

I love this!! I would have it as a poster, this one. I also like the little cd-like signature in the tank you put. Unobtrusive, but not invisible ;)
