I started with a scribble, used that as the outline, doodled the woman’s face, then the bird (representative of her personality, I guess), then the old man, the wolf/dog/coyote for the man, then filled in the middle with life experiences they may have shared - stormy seas, deaths, a child’s birth, and lazy afternoon picnics.
