Well faithful readers I need to ask you a question. What do you think of new ads here?
Personally they don't bother me but it has been something rather furriously debated on the forum, an aria I usually stay away from buy was completed to talk about on this particular subject. Ironically the one causeing the most fuss is the one at the bottom of the comic which is the one that bothers me the least, the add in searches and in the main page blog are the ones that bother me.
I am of course highly bias since I just got back from a convention I happen to know DD ads paid for. I had a wonderful time, so naturally I am for anything that will keep such DD related bonuses going. The convention was a huge success for me and a lot of fun, as a creator the benefits seems to massively outway the cons. Though that isn't say there isn't room for improvment mind you.
However the debate is raging almost exclusively between the creators. I'm currious to get opinions from readers. In all seriousness I would really like to know which ads bother people and if you think it is worth the trade off of more services, features and what not in exchange for some far more obvious and perhaps even obnoxious ads on the site.
So far I am forced to assume by the lack of complains I've seen in off forum comments and the fact that my comic hits have not been effected the reading population doesn't care but that is a rather dangerous assumption.
So my question for this week is what is everyone's feelings on the topic?

that is somewhat of a Nietzsche situation - stare into the abyss and it stares back

The ads don't really bother me, as long as they're not pop-ups, and don't break my frames. - :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

He might as well go outside and eat grass. hehe I was getting annoyed at ALL of the 'net's ads in general, so when I changed to Sidux today I set up Iceweasel to block them all (not just DD's). I kinda feel bad about blocking DD's ads though. Plus there're still blank spots where the ads were that makes the page look funky.

Flamen: Oh of course you can complain, but if you do try and do so in a constructive manner. DD is still adjusting the adds to see what works best for the site so if you have a constructive suggestion try sending Volts a PQ and tell him. Kikaru: I'm on dial up myself so I know just what you are talking about. You don't even want to know how long it take my computer to load a page. Lets just say it is a good thing VM is only strip sized. Awakened: Thank you. Red: Personally I agree but I apreciate people sharing their opinions. I'm not surprised to hear mixed feelings but I'm glad most people are willing to give them a chance. I hope a lot of people can get out to conventions and other DD events so they can get some of the benefit from these adds in addition to the great hosting and comics here of course. Archangel: I just didn't want you to feel left out so I thought I should say something to you. Cobra Lilly salad anyone?

Yummy
Kikaru at 2:12PM, June 30, 2007
The ads always bug me a little because it's extra things my dial-up needs to load and really slows down loading time for the comics themselves. But dial-up users are a minority, so that's not the real issue here. It's the internet. You're supposed to expect ads.

It's worth it.

They annoy me very much. Very, very much. But I know they are necessary and I know I can't complain.
