And here we come upon our little leapers' hiding place and lair! What is it, I wonder, what sort of place that is safe enough to store stolen food?
We'll find out next time!
Also, I have prepared for you the history snippets and one extra little text, which JNP said he'll put up asap BUT-
since yesterday was August 15, NOT ONLY a very important religious day for Greece commemorating the Virgin Mary's Dormition, but also a very important anniversary of WWII for Greece, I thought I'd tell you what exactly, and give you some pics to look at from the time.
On August 15, 1940, BEFORE Greece entered war, the Italians (well, the fascists) torpedoed Elli, a light cruiser of the Hellenic Navy which had been docked in the island of Tinos for the celebrations of the religious anniversary (August 15 is the Greek ‘summer Easter holiday’, to give you a feel of just how important the religious festivities are and were).
It was the first real herald that Greece wouldn't avoid the war despite trying in vain to keep her neutrality. More of that in the history section when it's up :)
So click here to go to a short review of what happened and a picture not only of the cruiser herself, but the moment of its being torpedoed.
I'm sure it is harder, but I am so used to it by now that I am proficent with a mouse like others are with a tablet. Again, however, it probably IS harder and I likely could get a lot more range and detail with a tablet. As to how I got absorbed? Simply because color work done on a computer is so much prettier!
Modenkind, I wasn't chastising you. No need to feel uncomfortable.
Though I am curious how you became absorbed in your computer without a tablet. Wouldn't doing work with a mouse be harder?
Ouchie. :<
Wasn't trying to be mean, but I'm glad you do still draw with your pencils. And the only reason I thought to bring that up is because I've known several people including myself who got so absorbed in their computer that when they tried to draw on paper later it was like trying to write in japanese.
Yeah though, it's totally true that an artist should employ whatever sort of style and use whatever sort of medium that they're comfortable with. Also pretty understandable that if you have a deadline and a tablet, doing it all on the computer makes life a bazillion times easier. I could almost relate, except I don't have a deadline for myself OR a tablet. I should get both of them, but with school coming up a deadline sounds more daunting than anything. As for the tablet...I'm waiting for some magical money to head my way.
Mondenkind: An artist should be able to draw with any means as long as they involve sticks or fingers ;) Don't worry about it. In any case, I draw this comic from scratch in the computer for several purposes, not the least of which is to manage to get the page to you on time on Monday.
That does NOT mean I never draw with my trusty pencils any more. No need to caution me.
And thanks for the compliment!
I love how you incorporate historical facts in the AN! And this continues to be a great well done comic, however, a word of warning: please don't stop drawing on paper entirely. It's always depressing to picture an artist who simply can't draw without a computer. BUT the art here is beautiful nonetheless.^^
Peipei: thanks!
Used Books: You are making me blush! The whole page is done from scratch in the computer with a tablet. I don't put pencil to paper anymore. I am happy it looks like it could be done with traditional means! It isn't actually hard to do though. It's a question of meshing/blending the colours. But when needed to be done with backgrounds, it IS more time consuming than usual. Plus I haven't yet figured out how to import/use brushes other than the ones already installed in Photoshop. :/
DAJB: Thanks, I definitely will!
And Diomedes is a kid. He thinks everything is easy if you want it to be. XD
I keep forgetting to mention this, but I am digging the art style you've employed for this comic. It's much different from the style in Wolf (which I also like). It's very expressive and creates a mood. Is the color done digitally or do you use watercolors or something? (I can't imagine creating such rich colors and textures would be easy in any medium. And I'm green with envy for people who can create such neat artwork.)
Heh - the fact he thinks shooting straight is easy is all the reason you need to know he's not ready!
Loving the background historical snippets, too. Keep 'em coming!
