When enough of the face bones and tissue are beaten to a pulp, a person's features are unrecognizable :(
And here we have the first collaborator Greek- this one's a translator (among other things) for the nazis. These were hated by every other Greek, be they resistance, non-combatants, of any political persuasion, young or old, women or men.
Tasos' (the mangled guy) threat proved to be very very real, and those collaborators that had been identified as such met a very ghastly end, delivered by both resistance AND non-combatant civilians (especially if they were black marketers or ‘masks’- we'll see those later on), with the withdrawal of the nazi occupation forces during the months of 1944-45.
On the artistic note, much as I love wearing hats, I HATE drawing them.
Nicotine: Collaborators of any nationality know no shame or country or compassion- or they wouldn't be collaborators :(
Hats are a BANE. Especially those cloche things - oh, and definitely men's hats.
Urk! This page is really chilling (in a good way!) That Greek collaborator should be really ashamed of himself D:. And as much as I would like to think otherwise, I know Tasos isn't going to pull out of this alive. :/
And I will definitely watch that Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas film too. (Anyone else wanna watch it? Youtube delivers again! xD)
And I, too, detest drawing hats!! x_x Good to know someone feels my pain xD
I agree the boy in the stripped pyjamas is a cracking film, and shows a human side to the german army without making a mockery of the holocaust.
Great page BTW
Yes, it's an excellent film. Essentially, everything is seen through the eyes of a young German boy whose father (unknown to him) is the Kommandant of a death camp. The family's house is a short distance from the camp itself but, without giving away the plot, the boy finds the perimeter fence of the camp one day and befriends a Jewish boy on the other side.
For the audience, knowing what's really happening, makes the boy's innocent attempts to interpret the world around him is very poignant.
In a way, I suppose you could compare it to To Kill a Mockingbird which also deals with a great social tragedy presented through the eyes of a child.
DAJB: Indeed so, Tasos is also goading here to end it. :( But I think he also feels triumphant that he proved stronger than them in so many ways.
Also, on the nazi camp propaganda, I have watched several such films. It's revolting and horrible, speaking a lot about the extent of lying. This exact propaganda is what the collaborator here is betting on to entice Tasos into ratting out his fellow resistance members.
I haven't seen The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas yet (believe it or not, I have to go prepared to stomach nazi films that aren't silly adventure movies), is it good?
Oh dear. Poor Tasos! Looks like a quick death might be the lesser of the evils here. :(
@usedbooks: have you seen The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas? There's a wonderful/chilling propaganda movie in that, in which the Nazi death camps are shown to be exactly as you describe!
usedbooks: It says that I know gross anatomy somewhat and that some perspectives I still find hard, especially with fedora-types. XD
No, he doesn't want to go to POW camp. He's being petulant. ;P
Ugh. Nastily realistic wounds, as always. :-( What does it say about you that drawing hats is hard but drawing mangled faces comes so easily? XD
Aw. Doesn't he want to go to a POW camp? It's like summer camp right? Roasting marshmallows and swimming and arts and crafts! Wheee!

Damn, the look of Tasos! Intense! Amazing. Yeah, I've never read WM from beginning to end, so I'm finally doing it. xD

Wow man! Thank you! Also, I'll try not to cringe too much on your behalf with the art in these pages.
