NO Day

Tantz_Aerine on Oct. 27, 2011

Today is one of the most important national holidays in Greece- it is the day we said No to Fascism (in particular, Moussolini's ultimatum to submit to him or face annihilation) and the Axis powers.
It is extremely symbolic, because it encompasses the Greek historical standing by Freedon and Justice, no matter what the odds. And this year, 2011, it is a DOUBLE holiday, because just today the Greek People said No to the financial fascism imposed (and the forefeiting of our Sovereignty to foreign forces) despite the terrorism and violence of the now officially denounced government. I am not going to tire you on the how and details, I just wanted to share with you that the People forced the governmental officials to leave every celebration before its onset, and then celebrated on their own.
So this is a day of joy in the midst of grim darkness, and I wanted to share! If I figure out the comic forum, I will transfer this page there tomorrow. If not, please forgive me keeping it here as a memento of the Greeks writing history today yet again :)
The image above is one of the 1940s posters regarding the “1940 Epic” as it is called in Greece. If you want to learn about its history briefly, here is the subpage I had on it, as unscrambled as DD lets me have it:The History

And here's Sabaton's song on No Day, with original footage from the era. Thanks for taking the time to share this moment that's so important to me, with me! Also here's the No Day relevant song by Sabaton, with a fan made clip featuring original footage of the war:
