Deraymou at 12:13PM, June 17, 2007
Well, I gotta agree with Lord of Cheese Whether we are supporting Amy with our part of the argument or not, we're probably just upsetting her more. So lets just go back to gushing over how amazing CTV is! (and completely disregard who inspired what until Amy says otherwise!) Or we can all arragne for a meeting somewhere and duel to the death, that'd fix everything too
John the guard at 6:45AM, June 17, 2007

further more, my laptop keyboard sucks
theillusivefish at 3:17AM, June 17, 2007
ok, no offence to anyone, but your rants are effing HUGE!! there is more important stuffin in life than saying CTV copies JTHM or whatever it is, quite frankly, JTHM looks or like some invader zim rip off thee way amelius presented it (een though i know its not, im just making a point here) but my main point is i havent ever thought that amelius was coping JTHM because it's completely differnt, so theres my small addition to the argument, not that it matters and it might be slightly, if not very niaeve, but hey
Tokarev at 2:29AM, June 17, 2007
Oh yah I almost forgot. I will be working on a comedy/history comic story about the Russian Front of World War II. I have everything I need but a good artist. If anyone's interested in helping out (I will be providing pictures and descriptions of what I want made) just give me a quack :) --- áþòõÃâÃÂúøù ÃÅ¡Ãâ¬ÃµÃÂÃâþòÃâ¹Ã¹ ÿþÃâ¦Ã¾Ã´ ÿÃâ¬Ã¾Ã´Ã¾Ã»Ã¶Ã¸Ãâ ÃÂ̮̼ =p

From all of the spooky characters you have created that curly doll faced girl is the most creepiest thing I've ever seen. So I can pretty much understand Charbys reaction towards to her.
Shanara99 at 1:01AM, June 17, 2007
Oh, yeah, and sorry for that rant...
Shanara99 at 12:54AM, June 17, 2007
@Ctonic Cultist: I don't think that is enough reason for anyone to say that CTV is ifluenced by JTHM. There are tons of comics whose characters go into psycological and philosofical tirades (X-men, sometimes, even... also anything drawn by Jan is known to be like that, and that's not mentioning any webcomic). Are you saying that, since you don't go in those tirades, they shouldn't? Doesn't those tirades, when triggered by specific events (such as almost killing your loved one) add dimension to the characters? About the blood... having re-re-re-re-re-read lately the whole archives, I have to tell you there's no that much blood... At least considering we're talking about MONSTERS here. I'd expect any comic featuring zombies, vampires, werewolves, and some unkown of demonic origin to have more blood. About the shared audience... I'm pretty sure TONS of people here read Sluggy Freelance... Does this means this comic is influenced by Sluggy? HAH, think not. Now, onto JTHM... I don't know much about that comic except the "gothy" comunity on my city liked it for a time... I never did, and, to be honest, I can't even read THAT thing. In my opinion, is the equivalent of bad gothy "poetry" you just like it if you're into that kind of things... otherwise, it revolvesyour stomach. CTV, instead, can be read by more people, so, again, another diference... I don't think this is a gothic comic... SURE it has the whole "vampire" thing, but, may Amelius correct me, that started as a spoof... I mean... vampirate? Vampire and pirate... 2 of the most "popular" things, that has the call for a parody... And, anyway... IF you say CTV is inspired by JTHM, you're saying, also, that ANYONE drawing stick figures is influenced by Calpurnio Pisón, authour of Cutlass, and that's totally WRONG. I mean... SURE the hair thing is similar, but what gives? It's NOT impossible that both of them thought same hair independantly, and, JTHM is NOT THAT FAMOUS, i any case... I mean, if I, suddenly, saw Cthulhu here, I'd know she's influenced by Lovecraft, since Cthulhu is QUITE FAMOUS, but JTHM? of my friends, just 1 of them knows that comic, and we're quite the "geeky" crew, knowing most rpgs, comics, and such. Let me set another example, this with manga... Dragonball and Yaiba. Both characters are similar, both seek seven balls, and both sets of balls are supposed to make you all powerfull... One inspired on the other? HELL NO! both based on same legend? Well, yes. So, why can't you believe something similar happens here? JTHM is gothy, and CTV is a monsters comic... now, gothy LOVE all that "creatures of the night" thing... so... both comics have same underlying thing... monsters. Now, Amelia monsters, while remaining mosnters, are quite human... the laugh, they cry, they love... So, in short, monsters being human is quite the oposite to human being monsters... So, it's a completly different thing... I, somehow, doubt you'll read all this, but it had to be told. @Amelius: Good work on this one too. You've improved TONS and TONS, both on your writting and drawing. Just ignore those asshats who can't see this as an unique comic. They just need to satisfy their ego thinking that the ONLY original author is their favourite, 'cause, otherwise, they'd be not so "perfect"... I mean, if you "worship" a comic author, but there's another one who draws better, has more credible characters, more complex storylines, more enterteinment value and, in general, is better.... Well.. you can think they would get frustrated if you were not coping him... hence, to satisfy their ego, you MUST be coping him... in which case all is right, since you're acknowledging his superiority over you... See? all this is just they not being able to accept a reality: JTHM is just ANOTHER comic, not THE comic.. So, you'll get lots and lots of insults, remarks and such things.. but, that actually means, they, in their hearts, accept your comic as something better than JTHM... except they can't say that aloud... their pose would be angry. ;)

Curse you spelling error demons! And mild plagues on the system that won't let my avatar load. (Something really relevant and I forget were the "N" key is, just great)
lordofcheese at 9:26PM, June 16, 2007
Even realizing that they are hitting a nerve with you maybe it's time to let the topic go? You done everything possible to convince the JTHM junkies of the world of your views on the matter and no matter how hard you strive it just might be an impossible task. Im the second-to-last pannel Charby's eyes are terrific.
Red Slayer at 9:26PM, June 16, 2007
I should have sent EEN a pm.
Deraymou at 9:02PM, June 16, 2007

-flails excited- Two days (or has it been three? Maybe a week? -lost track of time-) Well anyway, I started from the beginning and worked my way to her diligently. I LOVES IT SOOOOOOOO MUCH! You're a fantastic artist Amelius and have great potential. I wish you luck in all you set out to do and I love you. ^____^ ~*Moofius Mania*~ PS: If I could rate higher than five, I would.
Amelius at 6:23PM, June 16, 2007
Cthonic Cultist: I read every comment, with great interest, and I'd like to adress your points. (I hope I do not sound angry, but I found your comment a little...well, on the rude side, which surprises me because you are actually quite a pleasant commenter and I do appreciate it when you do comment.) The bloodshed is not for very little reason, especially since the characters are literally monsters, and CTV started off as a horror-movie spoof. Nobody reads a vampire comic and doesn't expect to see some blood, unless it's a cutesy veggie-pire comic for children. For every "gory" comic there's about 10 that end nonviolently, or without showing the violence. I like drawing it because of my influences: chuck jones (criticized for his violent cartoons, Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote? Tom & Jerry? He directed them of course)and one writing influence, Harry Graham (search for it on Google, "ruthless ryhmes for heartless homes", especially the little Willie poems) and Ren & Stimpy, by gosh does that have disturbing images! (the old GOOD version, not the new awful one) My characters don't go on angsty, self-anaylitcal tirades, or try to commit suicide and they don't have inamimate objects communicating with them. They are pretty full of themselves. They don't try to justify their actions! It is their nature, not because they are schizophrenic or bipolar or something. And need I mention, a lot of the early comics with the "revenge" theme were based on ACTUAL events that happened to me. I actually got splashed with water. I actually was called "freak" when I was walking down the street. I've walked into filthy bathrooms in restuarants and lost my appetite! I understand a similar audience reads it, but that is not enough to make a connection of similarity. If say, a lot of Doctor Who fans read my comic, that does not make my comic like Doctor Who. I have Star Wars influences in here too but sadly I don't see anyone pointing those out.
Cthonic Cultist at 5:50PM, June 16, 2007
As to yesterday's question, your comic DOES bear some similarities to Johnny. First off, it DOES have copious amounts of bloodshed for very little reason. Secondly, your characters go into deep psychological and philosophical things at times, which Johnny does do. And lastly, they are both read by the same cult-y sort of people. Hope you read this, but it seems unlikely.
