i've gotten into the habit of drawing each panel on its own page… so when i scan them in and try and piece them together, sometimes it doesn't work so well, hehe.
thanks for the comments, thanks for reading.
alejkhan - well, with all the cute girls throwing themselves at me, i gotta find ways to keep em occupied. ;) actually, my anatomy is getting better, slowly, with just the continual practice and such. I am trying to treat each panel as its own piece of art and hoping the sequential bit falls into place at this point, that helps too. And finally, i have been trying to use reference photos as of late, random photos from yahoo and google, or pausing movies and sketching the bare bone forms. typically i have to piece together a few photos and try and fill in the blanks, which is sometimes rather disastrous. for instance, the last panel in this page, i used a still from the movie cloverfield as reference… the left side is one girl and the right side is a totally different girl at a slightly different angle… only sort of worked. i like the reference photo bit because i feel the quality of the art improves a lot (when i can find an image that is even close to what i want in the first place).
You used a sound effect! The world trembles! :)
Y'know, if I wanted to kill someone fast I don't think that I'd stab them in the gut. . . not a quick way to die. Nasty, nasty Lamia.
Beautiful, beautiful art. The reference photos must help, because the detail and forms are great. Of course, you've also quite a few pages of practice under your belt, too!
Very nice! I use ref pics a lot on my comic and I'm not even the artist! I find they help me visualise what the finished page should look like while I'm writing, and they're very useful for conveying to the artist what I had in mind!
This is great. Is that a little vampire action I see? I actually really like the layout of this page...can I call it a page? The large black spaces and having to scroll down to read the whole thing actually give it great pacing, very cinematic.
I find myself perusing google images more and more these days for drawing, which is something I never did before. Maybe I'm feeling more lazy, or maybe I think it will help me improve. I'm not sure though. Using movie stills is a neat idea though! You could really get some good action shots out of them huh?
