This seems really cool, but I don't want to submit something now, because I don't like my work enough, and I'm busy with school and such as of tomorrow.
I may have to buy it, though, and that would be quiet a feat from me, considering how little I buy online…

as long as its all made by you (objects, clothes…etc)

Hmm… I guess that is a problem, since only half of the things that I use are made by me…(other half being freebies and models that I buy and altered).

The licences of the models that I buyed state that “Buyer (me, in this case) acquires the copyright to any derivative works created using this work, provided none of the original materials can be extracted from the derivative work by any means.”

However, since I really don't want to create trouble for DD, I should do either more research or do handrawing (and that will take me sometime. So I guess that it will be better if you don't count on me until I have the straight facts on that matter.

Awesome initiative, BTW!!!

oh actually, I hand draw all my stuff. I can just hand draw it and put it in the template right? And I don't colour in my drawings, if you'd prefer it I could colour my pages in. (All of this for the next book or if someone can't make it)

And I can't download the template, I don't have photoshop.

I'm excited! :) If the shipping fees don't blow the price out of the water I'll have to buy this.

Damn, I'd forgotten about shipping… well, how much can they charge for shifting fifty sheets of paper, really?

By the way, any plans for the front cover?

I had a story in mind, but I suddenly realised it was way too similar to Fight Club. =P So, uh, not sure right now. I'm pondering something creepy-ish.

I think I'd be more willing to collaborate than do one myself- I just don't have a short story in me. Well, I do, but like I insinuated it's adult-oriented. ;) But if anyone's interested I think I can crap out 5 pages of art.

I could try this'n. :)
You wanna script it, or just gimme the ball to run with?

I don't think the brands will be a problem- I've seen plenty of comics with specific brand references. :)

well, the content of the story doesn't really put beer into a good light…so beer companies might get all litigation happy.

Plus you don't want to mention brand names exactly, so as to avoid giving gigantic businesses any extra exposure/advertising… heh!

I have an idea, but it's not quite as rollicking or gory as everyone else's… it's more like… ‘quiet’. But wistful!

Quick question: how do I go about compressing the TIFF files so that they are able to be emailed? The current files are huge.

I used the Kablam template, but since I'm drawing right over it on the computer, the TIFF files are over 20 MB, and I'm not sure how to compress them without making it another format.

I'm really not used to a 6 page format so I'm still writing the script, haha.

Hopefully I can start drawing tonight or tomorrow.

(also, I think everyone should make some progress updates so that we know if the time is running short).

Good idea, Aurora.

For myself, I've finally settled on a story (gone from unintentional Fight Club ripoff to urban legend parody to fantasy story), and I'm writing the script as we speak.

Script written, half of first page drawn. Aurora, you've reassured me - I'd gotten worried that I was behind, seeing as one person mentioned having finished theirs already. Teach me to be paranoid about deadlines. :P

Man, this book is gonna be awesome. I can't wait to see everyone's stories. :D

are you guys going to post your pages here on DD? I was thinking of doing so.

Finished scripting (hah), designed main character, and am hemming and hawing (spelled wrong?) about the title… I'm thinking of “Glance” but with such a wisp of a comic, it's hard to tell what's the most fitting title.

edit: aargh ‘glance’ is the worst title ever……!!!! gurruuhhh. naming things is the hardest part!!!!

I'm pretty much finished with my story. I saved two different files for each page: one with the template flattened over the page, and one without. Which ones should I send?

I dunno. I might post a teaser on here or dA, but I'll see what everyone else thinks about it before I consider posting the whole thing online, seeing as we're trying to sell it and stuff.

Yeah, naming can be really freakin' hard… XD “Glance” doesn't sound horrible to me, though! I like it. Sounds like it would fit a ghost story or something quite well. I guess it depends on how well it fits your story, though. (My title starts off as a horrible pun and then turns out to be an accurate-but-obvious description of the villain, which isn't much better. :P)

im outlining the pages now

only send me the flatten ones.

in another note, im not really in it for the money (it probably wont be a lot considering it's not marked up too much)…i just wanna hold a comic that i've worked on in my hands and feel good.

i dont really have problems with exclusivity, it's your own work so you can show it or not show it online.
