Hello there DrunkDuck. My name is Will and I am a writer. Not a professional, at least not yet, but someone who has something of a knack for writing. I am here because I was directed to this site through another message board and a person that has a comic here, though I have managed to forget who exactly that was.

I do have an interest in writing comics and would quite like to write a comic on this site, but my utter lack of art talent is holding me back a great deal in that respect. I am incapable of drawing even a handsome stick figure even with a good deal of effort put forth to that end, and as such I have gathered a great deal of admiration for artists who are capable of doing art that does not look like it was drawn by a cat with crayons tied to it's back feet. That constitutes nearly all of the people who do art, I find.

At any rate, I look forward to meeting some interesting people here.

Hello MailOrderClone and welcome to the Drunk Duck. There work arounds available if you do not want to go the stick figure route. Some quite successful writer types use action figures and photography to tell their stories and produce fascinating stuff. Other writers simply team up with artists because for every writer that cannot do art at a personally satisfactory level there seems to be an artist with the opposite problem.

Anyway, if you are interested in joining forces with an artist in need of a writer you can try the ‘Networking and Community Projects’ forum, which is six headings below this ‘You say goodbye,I say hello’ forum.

In any event, welcome!

Welcome to the DD family. Lack of artistic talent doesn't seem to prevent anyone else here from making a comic. I don't see why you should let it stop you. Shoot, just the name “MailOrderClone” sounds like a great idea for a comic, stick-figure or otherwise. Setup here is so easy it's stupid, just do it.

Hey Moc! Glad to have you around ^.^ Please help yourself to the cheese and fruit trays I've lovingly prepared for today. No, really. EAT THE CHEESE AND FRUIT. EAT IT NOW. Don't ask questions.

Also, don't worry about the lack of artistic abilities. I couldn't draw when I launched my comic a year ago, but I think you'll find you can improve fairly quickly. But if that doesn't sound appealing, Charley has a great idea with the Networking forum. People are always looking to partner up with artists or writers. Have fun!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and also the fruits and cheeses. I'll definitely be dropping by the networking forum to see if I can find any artists interested in a bit of collaboration.

Hi there MailOrderClone, I also fancy myself as more of a writer than an artist, but I do both for my comic…writing is actually my first passion :) followed closely by drawing. The networking forum is a great place to get the help of people too.

Cheese and fruit trays eh? Sounds fruity, yet also cheesy - I'll go for it. Anything Amanda prepares is bound to be safe. Probably. Ish.

Welcome MailOrderClone, CharleyHorse makes an excellent suggestion there as usual, but you'll find that the animals often make more sense than the people here. There are other ingenious solutions to a lack of drawing skill of course, such as creating comics with 3D software using pre-prepared figures and such, although this undoubtedly includes a steep learning curve. Whatever you decide, enjoy your Duck experience and happy holidays:

Er……..boo!
