I wonder what the odds are of actually getting an artist to draw my comic?

*does the math* …Wow, those are some depressing odds. It's somewhere between leaving Las Vegas with more money than you arrived with, and being a successful stockbroker in today's economy.

But enough about that, let's talk about the story I'm going thrust upon the poor, unprepared world using you and your art skills. The tale in question has been floating around in my head for several years (along with every other inane thought I've had), but my lack of an attention span prevented me from ever doing anything about it. I'd finally gotten around to writing it down, when I realised that it would make a much better comic than written story. But as it turns out, I suck at art. I mean really suck. So, I'm going to ask one of you to draw it for me!

Let me get this out of the way right now: I HAVE NO MONEY. I'm going to college at the end of the summer, and therefore can't pay anyone to do a comic for me. So if that's what you're looking for, you may as well just leave now. For just about every other aspect of this project I'm willing to be very flexible, but money is one issue where I literally cannot afford to negotiate. Sorry.

The story itself is a different take on the superhero genre. By now, anti-heroes are kind of overdone, so my story about a group of anti-anti-heroes. Basically, they get sick of all the red tape that comes with being heroes, so they turn to crime. But here's the catch: they only target those who they feel “deserve” to be stolen from (although they have no qualms about humiliating any other superhero who tries to stop them). It's a story about exposing and ruining those who use the “system” to hurt others, and having a bit of fun doing it. And it's not at all a thinly-veiled reference to how sick I am of corruption, bureaucracy, and the jerks who run companies into the ground and still walk away with enough money to retire from, oh no. (That was sarcasm, just in case you couldn't tell.) There's going to be a lot of action, emotion, and exaggeration in this story, so your art needs to be able to convey that, and possibly more. It needs to be in color too, as that is often a defining trait to my characters.

I'm not just looking for an artist. I'd like to have someone who I can bounce ideas off of, and who will make suggestions, and to help me to help them. Like I said, I'm more than willing to be flexible and anytime you want to make a suggestion or change something to make it easier on yourself, just ask.

But there's going to be quite a bit of decision-making on your own as well. For example, I didn't originally write this as a comic script, and therefore it isn't in script form. I'd like you to decide where the pages should stop and start, because frankly, I'd have very little idea of how to do that. If that's really a problem for you, let me know and we'll work something out.

I'm running much longer than I had hoped, so I'll wrap this up. This isn't just some vague idea I've had. I have the prologue completely written and the first two big stroy arcs almost completely planned out. If you're really interested, show me a sample of your art, and if I like it, I'll send you a copy of the prologue. I won't ask you to make any decisions until after you've read it, but I' would like to know as soon as possible.

Whew! You made it to the end. Thanks for reading this big ol' wall 'o text, I really do appriciate it.

I like this idea and would be interested in arting for it (If you don't already have someone in mind) I hope you don't mind a cartoony style, if not. Check out my comic in about two weeks, I'll be pulling an alternate universe storyline and the people from there are in a more ‘marvel’-ish style.

Oh! Am willing to do the freebie thing, It's not like I have any way for you to give me the money anyway.

Yay! Someone answered! Thanks Rainwolf! No, I don't have anybody else in mind yet, and yes, cartoony-style art should work great for this. I'll look forward to seeing your other style!

Just send it to me whenever you can, I have nothing but time.

Seriously, just need to type the dialog up for my next few weeks worth of Freaks and Geeks.

Sounds good. I'll need your e-mail to send it to. And I won't be able to get it to you for another day or two, I'm leaving for my vacation tomorrow.

Okay, you can't send it to my main email because that has to go through my mom, but here's another one you can send it to:

Rainwolf@sailormoon.com.

Have fun on your vacation.

Did you send it? Because I've checked both my main box and my spam folder and nothing. Did something happen?
