A friend told me about Drunk Duck! because I am looking for an illustrator for a graphic novel. I am an extremely poor filmmaker - well, actually I'm an extremely good filmmaker but my cashflow is non-existent at the moment. I have had an idea, though, for a series of graphic novels and have discussed that idea with a number of industry professionals, all of whom think it is a great idea. In fact, I met recently with an executive editor of one of the foremost publications in the world and he has asked me to provide him with 10 or so sample pages, at which point he will see about getting a contract for the book itself.

I am, therefore, looking for an illustrator who would be willing to work on spec for the first 10 pages, with the very real possibility that there will very quickly be some cash coming in.

On Spec means nothing!

We had I forum discussion about this recently; it's a real problem if an editor won't look at your script unless you've had 10 pages drawn up. If they really think it's a great idea, shouldn't they be teaming you up with an artist?
Anyway, most people seemed to support this practise so you should find it easy to locate your artist. While you're waiting, are you familiar with this attractive folly? :
