Never recovered anything and having spent all my money on that ring, the wife went and bought another herself for the engagement.

About a decade later my wife was in Walmart and came across a small bag by the jewelry counter. It was full of carefully wrapped jewelry. Nothing stolen and she turned it in to the store. After 90 days or so no one turned up to claim it so she brought it home. It wasn't our jewelry but some was platinum and it more than made up for our loss all those years earlier.

Coincidence, or did things just seemingly came full circle?

Coincidence. Karma doesn't work that way, 'cause someone else suffered B-)

I did have a little bit of luck like that, one time. It was the mid-80s… I came home from a double shift overnight on Saturday morning and my wife had this square bag she'd found behind the car, thinking a friend had left it - no they hadn't. I didn't check it out until I woke up, hours later…it had a video camera . While I was looking, the kids came in from playing on the trampoline, with a friend, who had spotted a big old jar, in the corner of the yard. The camera had a ‘joint’ in the side pocket. The jar had ** $153 in it.
Anyway, did the right thing and took it, with the kids, up the cop shop and handed it in. The desk sergeant enjoyed getting the young constable to count ** all the coins (so that's how I knew) and was intereted to find the joint.
Got the call, 3 months later, like you, and we went back to collect it. The kids (and friend) got $30 each….and I got to capture a lot of the kids' childhood on video…until someone borrowed it to go away, a few years later, and ‘killed’ it.

Buddha said, life is pain. Therefore it follows that karma is suffering because the goal of enlightenment is to break that cycles of suffering and pain in samsara and karma.

So they say. I think enlightenment is being able to see all sides of every question and to delight in just how ridiculous it all is. Life is suffering but you don't have to suffer. And That is why the sage laughs.

To keep this alive:

I dream a lot about dead people. I was literally haunted by my father after his death. He was in every dream trying to control everything. Fortunately I am a lucid dreamer and have some control. So I went up to him and told him , “you're dead and this is my dream. I am in charge here. ”

Took a few dreams but I got through to him At first it seemed like he wasn't sure he was dead. My subconscious working out my grief.

I had a good friend pass from AIDS twenty years ago. He frequented prostitutes. He's shown up in my dreams and I'd say “I've missed you George. You're dead.”
He'd reply, “ I know Steve, but I missed you too.”
I woke up crying because it was so tender and genuine.

Another time George was there and I was having difficulties and I looked at him and said “you're dead.”
“I know Steve, but I figured you could use some help.”
And wouldn't you know that's what he did in the dream. He was always right there. He was like that.

Thanks, I've been hanging off thinking no-one was interested any more.
I had a dream in hospital, where my Scottish f-i-l very vividly told me to get off my arse, in his accent that puts at least 2 extra ‘r’s in that word.

I also had this odd one, before going over to see my Dad (and having had some ‘episode’ in hospital, prior to transplant). I was in their old living room, noting that some furniture had been moved/changed. Dad was in his chair, looking much older, and not looking at me, for some reason. My mother and grandmother (both long-dead by then) were sat on a sofa, chatting to me, as I stood with my back to the fire. Just general chat….then I said

“Why isn't Dad joining in the conversation ?”, and they said “Well, he's alive, isn't he ? - So he doesn't know we're all here ! Now you carry on, and you can chat to him, when you go over”.

…which I eventually did, after a transplant. He was much older-looking, of course, and the furniture was as in the dream.

His eyes, those normally droopy canine eyes were wide, and wild as I stared into them. “What is it, boy?” I asked. All Able did was bark frantically at the window. “I always leave the blinds open when it's warm, and he's never did this before”, I thought. I followed his eyes out the window and saw nothing but black. After all it was 10:30 p.m. on a warm southern summer night. I managed to hide the nervous look on my face as I turned to my wife and said “maybe someone's out there.” Able on the other hand was all heart. So valiant; that Boxer/American bulldog cross breed didn't know hesitation.

I grabbed his chain and we went outside into the gloom. We walked around the perimeter of my home with Able leading the way. We saw nothing. Relieved,I came back in the house and presented the case to my wife. We thought it might be a stray cat, or maybe a raccoon. I brushed it off and went to bed. On the next night; however, at the same time, 10:30 p.m., Able barked crazy at the window. We ran outside again, and again saw nothing. “Maybe he just wants to go outside and walk”, I thought. So for the next 5-6 months that's the pattern we followed. He would run down the stairs and go crazy at the window at around 10:30, and I would take him outside and walk around the house and come back in and go to bed. However; one night I had a VERY memorable dream.

In the dream I walked down the stairs as Able ran ahead of me, and barked at the window, but this time there WAS a figure in the window. It was hard to make out though. I approached the window and found a very young man staring at me. He gestured me to come outside so I climbed out the window in this dream. I got a better look at him. He was all white and had Asian features.

He spoke and said, “Im lost. I'm trying to get home, but I don't know the way, but I think YOU do.” “I'm from here so I can help”, I said excitedly. “In what part of town do you live?” I continued. “No, I mean Heaven”, he said, “how do I get to Heaven? Do you know the way?” My head dropped. As a minister I never gave anyone a map to heaven. I thought for a minute then finally I said, “I don't know the way, because I've never been to Heaven, but just ask GOD. The Bible makes mention of Angelic escorts so just ask Him. He'll come and getcha, I guess.” He looked at me and immediately said “You know what? I'm gonna do that! That's exactly what I'm gonna do” He turned and began to walk away, but disappeared as he did so.

I woke up. From that time on, Able never barked at that window again. TRUE STORY
