its like someone melded velveeta and a block of wood. they give it out after disasters along with instant milk, canned fruits, and meat in a bag. my buddy mark and i bought a large supply of that and m.r.e.'s from military surplus, back before we both figured out we'd rather play the odds if the world came to an end. :)
