This is one of the “younger” pages (meaning it was done AFTER some older pages like the next one) which was inserted between the opening monologue and the following scene for reasons of story clarity and character motivation.
I think you can clearly see a stylistic difference when you compare the younger with the older pages.

Midge: Dang, you got it already, one less mystery for you to figure out! And you're right, I toned down (no pun intended) the cross-hatching somewhere along the way, and nowadays the gray shading does some of what the cross-hatching did for me back then. Thanks!
