This one, the next and the previous page belong to the 30 oldest pages I drew for this comic. Since the other pages around them are all substantially newer, some things don't integrate that smoothly into the storyline… like the comment about Kat's destiny. In a perfect world I'd just have done these pages anew… but alas, it's far from perfect.

So the lance has to be taken purely for its symbolic value (“truth”), whereas the speaker on this page could be a reverberating after-image from one of the recent angels, or just a voice inside Kat's head.
