SS2 33 Sarah's Birthday
skyangel on March 4, 2008
Once again we approach update day! Lately, Sky and I have been reflecting on how far this comic has come. We both could not have gotten this far without the overwhelming support and love you all give us. This comic is rare in that it is not just about two girls struggling with growing up and with the trials of taboo love but it also reflects the hardship of growing from adolescence to becoming an adult. I find it not hard to relate to this story as confessing love can be one of the hardest things to do and once done holding onto it and trusting it.
It is a credit to both Sarah and Janey as characters, that they are able to express their love and their trust with such happiness and strength. It highlights how relationships are not about how one dominates the other, but how one loves and supports the other and visa versa when needed something which is at times overlooked in stories.
Again I wish to thank you all for voting for SS both here and on topwebs and Buzz. We appreciate your support and honesty when voting and it is a credit to you. Thank you *bows*
For now though, I leave you with a page to read and ponder ^^
with fondest love and thanks
Em

This was almost the best day of her life

The next page sees Sarah standing over a pile of broken plates, right? Mothers have a way of seeing things you didn't know (or hoped) they saw, even if they don't understand what it is they saw, they also have the habit of saying things that make you want to crawl under a bush in embarrasment :D

If Mums don't get told, they gotta ask, don't they?

I'm so glad I got my computer fixed! These last few pages have been amazing! Especially where they were slow dancing! Gosh x3 You truly are a genius Sarah, and you too Emma, awesome coloring.

ugh, bothersome woman.

Whew, Pops didn't see anything. Heh, I like the giggling when Janey left. I'm with Megan_Rose on that, it was harder telling my mom that I am in love than it was to tell her I am gay. Bet Sarah's mom is kinda thinking "dang, guess it's not a phase after all..." which is okay. Better than "*gasp!* you're really gay?! Die die die!" and she turns into mommy dearest.

Ooh... that was a close one, lol. And yes... this comic has come a long way. It has been a delight to read from the beginning to now. I think what makes it so appealing, in addition to a lot of other yuri and shoujo-ai webcomics I've found here on Drunk Duck is how we young lesbians can relate to the experiences depicted in them.

Congrats, love your comic!

Happy 100th!

I got it wrong. I expected him to drag them out of the building, saying "it's an earthquake!" which would explain the name label dropping off, and his busting in on them. Skyangel defies predictability!

Foxy_Kitty_Girl at 2:18PM, March 5, 2008
OMG YAY she didnt get caught doing naughty things with janey .. whew , that scared me so bad .... oh my , here we go with the mom questions
kokuorei at 1:35PM, March 5, 2008
Mom knew that she was gay, but I don't think she knew about Janey. Gratz Sky on 100. You're doing such a wonderful job in story telling. You were a bard in a past life, ni?
allanah at 12:19PM, March 5, 2008
Hehe Dad looks so confused. I thought mom knew that she liked Janey? I'm confused... Oh wells, great page and congrats on 100 pages!
angel_of_darkness at 11:55AM, March 5, 2008

Congrats on 100 PAGES! WOOT! Uh oh, intefering parents! X-X I wonder if her dad has noticed yet? I hope Sarah's mum's alright with their relationship. :( Parents can be awfully over-protective, gay or straight! Beautiful page. Sarah looks lovey with her hair done like that
antlan87 at 9:26AM, March 5, 2008
Her mom probably has a good idea what they were getting up to.
megan_rose at 9:21AM, March 5, 2008
It was easier to tell my mom that I was gay than that I was in love. I'm glad to see Sarah's mom acting so cool about everything.
Elleestmort at 8:01AM, March 5, 2008
Her mom looks good in the sixst pannel, and then I mean the way she is drawn.
bonnie at 7:06AM, March 5, 2008
100 pages yay! and oh dear i dont foresee this being a good thing with her mum is she ganna regret telling her. oh please let me be wrong.
TheAnswer at 6:01AM, March 5, 2008
It sounds like Sarah's mum is saying that like it's a bad thing...or maybe I am misinterpreting.
