Congrats on 400 pages. When I was 20 (back in the industrial revolution), working as a consignment clerk in the steel works, one of the truckies told a tale of picking up a "nice girl" at Cardiff's notorious "New Moon" club, taking her off up the mountain, and subsequently discovering "she" was a tranny. The gaping-mouthed clerks I worked with asked "What did you do!?" The reply was "I f#6%ed him anyway, I wasn't going to ruin a good night!" At least a non-violent outcome. I've never forgotten that.

David: Haha I don't think that's a line Nikki would be willing to cross just yet for sure although I had a delicious scene run through my mind last week where 'Nikki' relates to Sarah a tale of letting a close male friend of the same Nikki/Sarah boundary be intimate with him because he felt that 'allowing' was an honour that only a woman can give. It's a new idea to me, but I'm enjoying exploring Nikki as the story goes, so who knows.

Expressions are so important because just like real actors these guys have to try and convince you their feelings are real. Often the text alone with a smiley is enough, but I do love to try and go for more subtler ones. I imagined her making some weird sucking or blowing noise down the straw too as she tries not to laugh. :) As for doing the dirty thing in the back of a car, I'm reminded of a story about a t-hooker who was offering her services for free to truckdrivers or something with the excuse that it could be anal only a she was on her period. When a guy finally rumbled her he ccomplained to the police but I can't recall what the result of that was; they probably had a good laugh!

Bearinoz: I wanted to drop that tribute because the situation was inspired by the book/film. In the original story as you know a young British deserter goes AWOL and befriends a lonely widow at her farmhouse where she agrees to harbour him. It's her idea for him to dress up as her sister to avoid suspicion but the story becomes more interesting when he appears to be turning more and more feminine every day. I feel looking back that H E Bates was probably basing the story on something he had heard about as he loved to write fairly down to earth stories about village life etc and unusual situations. Dulcima is another classic tale both filmed and hard to find, about an old single farmer falling for a woman young enough to be his daughter.

Arici: By their late 20's most girls will have had lots of expereince in dealing with guys that come on to them and have their own personal boundaries on how to deal with it, but for Nikki this is new stuff so she's lapping it while she has the opportunity. I recalled seeing several ads for beers/lagers that had 'X's' on the side 'Castlemaine XXX' was in my mind at the time so I thought I could at least use those 'x's. I think it is supposed to suggest how strong the beer is.

Nice page, food for thought: Nikki is playing with fire one way or another, but may be discoverying things about her sexuality she didn't know. Kind of agree with Lunaris that, if she's going to get it, we need to know. Lava lamp anyone? Sarah often acts like an interfering busy body, but here she is right and there is genuine affection between her and Nikki. Oh, and how could I forget. Janey, wonderful Janey. If they ever make being gorgeous an Olympic event Britain is guaranteed a gold. Last picture is you (Sky) at the top of your game.

I was touched most by Sarah's tenderness towards Nikki. So lovely, and reminds me I have a friend like that: makes such a difference, and I bet as much a deep ego boost for Nikki than the flirting, and much safer!

If I didn't already have the perfect Janey avatar I would SO use her face from the last panel. I can almost see her trying not to spit her drink out as she stifles a laugh at Rick's oh-so-hilarious choice of words. It's good to see Nikki having fun too, being made to feel attractive is nice no matter who does it. She needs all the ego-boosting she can get at this point in her life. Long as she doesn't go seeking it out too greedily. Not that she wouldn't look good bent over doing the dirty thing in a parked car...I just don't wanna see her end up like that. Well...actually...no, I like her too much. She'd be cute, but it'd be out of place. You have a way of stirring the imagination, you know that? lol Eagerly looking forward to next week's strip! Why, Nikki gets prettier by the page! I think she's right flirting with Ricky - I mean, they _just_ met so nothing's wrong with a little flirting and a small ego boost :) Sarah's always so worried....
