SS7 35 Night Out at Colors 3
skyangel on Nov. 23, 2019
The story so far… On a night out at the local gay club, Nikki has been chatted up at the bar by a complete stranger who she's finally brought over to meet the group..
Nobody likes being labelled or stereotyped but at the same time as long as people feel the need to keep using them, even in a light hearted way I guess they will always be with us and there will always be some who take them too seriously at the expense of other peoples feelings.
We're back on schedule again this week but as Christmas fast approaches I imagine we will be a little erratic in our production.

I do wonder if labelling things is part of human nature. Almost like that old one of if you know somethings true name you have power over it. And I don't think it does any harm - exactly - except when labels are used as a substitute for thinking about things, and a short hand for good or bad. (And I do miss not being able to have paragraphs.) Calling Sarah a "chapstick?" No wonder Sarah's looking daggers. And how is Pippa going to handle the news that her potential paramour for the evening has a todger? (That could be opening a whole new can of worms.) Hmmm . . . is this related to what Pippa does next in giving a snowball a push down the slope? And also, both in this strip and last week's, Laura has been silent. Hmmm . . . we shall see what happens.

Fruitbat: You're on the right lines my friend as you will find out in next weeks page. I would give Laura a line or two but because I wanted to get in close to the action the poor girl gets pushed out of the picture all the time and even Lucy is only just grabbing some space where she can! Laura is the quiet girl though that everyone forgets about anyway so it feels relative that we as readers also tend to forget she's even here at times too............... And, yes, not being able to start a new paragraph is frustrating at times! I'm able to do it in my editorial but now down here in the stalls with you guys!

Labels are one thing; prejudices another. I've always been pretty liberal, so I've been disappointed, over the years, to hear of all the 'rules' and prejudices outside the 'Hetero' ones. "Switches" and "Bis" and "Pans" are frowned upon by many - or not even believed ! It's a funny old world though and humanity never ceases to amaze nor disappoint me, sadly. Divisions fomented for gain leave us weak....British, USA and Oz politics are proving this, currently. Anyway - nice page !

Bear: Bear.. that's so deep I don't even know where to begin! That's two issues of prejudice you've touched on that are so big I've started to type a response to your post three times and had to axe it as the paragraph was exceeding the limit! But in a nutshell, I agree with you. I find psychology fascinating especially when it comes down to what we love, despise and fear as often it all begins with irrational reasoning which matures into something far more unhealthy over the years and when one person reinforces those ideas with the help of other like minded people it's not long before the whole thing turns ugly as we well know. Since the internet started connecting people though across the world I do think generally we are seeing more progress being made in enlightenment, understanding and acceptance than ever before with all forms of prejudice, even in such small ways as this.

OMG, these pages in within the Colors club are super nice! Good job! The atmosphere feels so vibrant and lively. Pippa really loves her labels, and Sarah is really working the burns on Janey; who does not seem too set back by all of them quite yet. I wonder if she will later decide that she has had enough of Sarah's claws anytime soon and let her know.

Thanks for the reply, SkyAngel!! Well definitely let Becky know she did a good job on the colors! Oh, that is very interesting to know; can't wait to see how it all comes up! :) This is a really good story, it's always very exciting.

Gemi: I have to give Becky the credit for creating this lovely background atmosphere for the club, it's wonderful for me too to see my b+w linework come to life in such a dazzling way. Janey has her limit but Sarah hasn't quite pressed the right button yet! ;)

Yeah, as long as the labels aren't meant to putdown or harm, then yeah, labels are good. Unfortunately, Pippa is using them for evil, and to be bitch. It is good that Janey and Lucy are trying to lighten the mood before Sare blows her cool though. How long before she finds an excuse to go to the loo, and never come back?
skyangel at 3:03PM, Nov. 24, 2019
DV: Ah, I did wonder :)
DarkVisor at 5:40AM, Nov. 24, 2019
Meant _Pippa_ leave for the loo
skyangel at 4:26PM, Nov. 23, 2019
DV: Haha Sarah's niggled for sure but she's not looking for a date anyway so I'm sure she's tolerating Pippa for Nikki's sake right now, however, this is just the start of Sarah's declining mood and what Pippa does next is about to step things up a bit ;)

Uh-oh, someone's getting grumpy. What's gonna happen when she gets a couple more daiquiris in her?
skyangel at 3:52PM, Nov. 23, 2019
Fred: It's a start! lol You'll notice the glasses are never empty as this progresses ;)
skyangel at 3:50PM, Nov. 23, 2019
Nic: Hi! What intrigues me most is knowing under what circumstances someone would say that to you in conversation and how the transcript of that ran! lol I'll be honest and say I'm not sure either. US and UK terms vary somewhat and I Googled to check that I was using slang fairly equal to both sides and I was a bit taken aback by the variety of terms out there, some old, many new and some even just used locally. But 'honeybun' doesn't sound in any way derogatory so I'm thinking she must have meant you were either really 'cute' or 'sweet'. Maybe we should ask Ben his opinion on that now :)
