SS7 100 Final Parting

This is the last time we see Lucy as we wrap up this final chapter but..there's still some good stuff to come; probably not quite what you're expecting but hopefully enough to keep you glued until the very end which is still about 20 pages away!

I've been a bit quiet just lately I know, but a lots going on in my life at the moment with home and work so thanks as always for your lovely comments, it's always good to hear your thoughts and reactions to the page!

Tommym: I think I used a similar development board way back at the end of chapter one or two as it seemed a fun thing to do but now with Lucy's dad playing such a big part in Sarah's life it seemed worth using the same idea again as it has more meaning now.

Admirably, Sarah is taking inventory of her behavior toward Laura. I doubt very much that Lucy is.

Fred: As I said to Gemi below I rather wanted Lucy to come across as colder in preparation for what's about to come. I kind of get a buzz out of making Sarah the victim who rather digs her own grave at times!

The last farewell . . . nice technique of having to panes in the top panel giving a visual sense of the emotional distance between Sarah and Lucy & Laura. So Sarah thinks Laura "won" by doing nothing? Maybe. But then again if you see love as winning or loosing you may well already have lost. I guess Sarah will be returning the metal detector in person, rather than posting it. ;-)

Fruitbat: I rather liked the idea that Lucy and Laura share a blissfully happy, cosy panel together while poor Sarah is left alone in her own panel with just her mobile phone for company. As for the script, I just like the idea that a victim can sometimes use guilt as a mental weapon against physical aggression. I've seen plenty of instances of that in real life so I just had an urge to get that in somewhere. :)

I admit that I find it sad how Lucy so easily recovered from all of this - she seems entirely unnafected by her loss of Sarah and her inevitable but immediate move towards Laura would be gutting to watch. She could have at least asked for the key without disclosing that it would be trading hands right away to spare Sarah some grief. This was all so rough on Sarah.

Ah, that clears it up, thanks! Ok, glad you went this direction because it is actually what I would have thought of if her thoughts fled immediately to Janey after she initiated the break up. This method does make it more organic - good call.

Gemi: Originally I planned on Sarah convincing Lucy that she was meant for Laura after observing how close and happy they were together at the concert, hence her remark at the time 'They played as one'. But when it came to writing the final script it felt more like Sarah was ditching Lucy for Janey so I decided it was more in Sarah's favour to have Lucy make the move instead.
