SS7 131 Friends Reunited
skyangel on Jan. 17, 2022
As far as I can tell, the last time we saw Geraldine was on page 6 of chapter 5 which was posted way back in 2013 although it's really confusing me now as I know her girlfriends name is Sasha and yet I can't find a single panel that confirms that! I appear to have referred to her just as ‘Gerry’s girlfriend'!
But either way, it felt really good to visit Gerry again after so long. She was always one of my most favourite characters. And what makes her extra special for me is that when Elliot Page was still Ellen and hadn't even revealed she was gay yet, I had seen her in a movie, possibly Juno or Hard Candy and immediately felt like she was the perfect model for my tomboyish character Geraldine. For a comic that's covered being gay and transgender in some depth, that feels really homely.
Next week:
Sarah explains the problem to Janey and we get to hear her reaction!
Have a nice week :)

Ah, it's good to see Gerry again and is an interesting reminder that not only does time wait for no one, but adults get into routine and can suddenly realize that they are often less active in their friends lives due to a bunch of reasons. Gerry and Sarah still get a long even though it has been some time since they spent any significant amount of time together but Sarah had clearly drifted away from Dawn long ago; which is just true to life sometimes. Regarding Stacy, I still stand by my assessment long ago that Sarah and Gerry really don't respect Janey's feelings towards her quite enough. I have always felt they took way too heavy of a stance of "well, the girl did attempt to kill you in your youth, but can't you just get over it lol :p?" and it always made me question them just a bit because of that. So, to me, it's just so interesting that Gerry made the decision to be more accepting towards Stacy but be concerned Janey would be the one to cause drama at the wedding. :)

Thanks for the reply, and again, you illustrated quite well how life naturally goes on. :) May not have been intentional, but the realism really hits home; which is a great thing! Aww, I totally understand, and with Sarah having feelings for Gerri after the kiss, it made sense why they briefly distanced. After that, it was just the two of them getting swept up in life. Oh yes, no matter where the story goes, I will enjoy the entirety of it. Thanks for all of this. :)

Hi Gemi Very thoughtful and interesting comment and you're so right about drifting friendships as life tends to be like that, although it was never really intentional, it's just that as the story line moved in different directions it became easier to let some characters disappear rather than try to keep writing them in. I was quite shocked to see just how many years had passed since Geraldine was left seen! It's nice to be able to bring Leo and Gerry back again at least and especially Stacey whose the one character I do feel the most guilt about abandoning. The main reason for re-introducing Stacey is because of Janey and what I feel was a pivotal change to Sarah and Janey's future when she went under that van. So I hope you will enjoy those pages when things finally come to a head!

Janey has been through a lot,but has grown quite a bit. I don't think she would purposely do anything to ruin the wedding, but I also don't know much about traumatic brain injuries either. We already know how much that has affected Janey's life. I can't remember if there's been any mention of Janey dealing with PTSD?

Hi MB, I do apologise, I thought I had replied to this but no, there has never been any mention of PTSD where Janey is concerned, only references to the physical injuries her brain has been treated for.

I hope Janey can come, because she'll have a chance to put some of her resentment to rest. Plus it'll be nice to get her back in the action again.

That's the thing - she could also make it a night to remember (in a positive way). There's always two sides with people with big emotions... Looking forward to the things to come
