SS7 181 Still Waiting
skyangel on Jan. 30, 2023
I remember a few years back laughing with someone about how too many romantic movies followed a formula of boy meets girl, they despise each other at first and then just as things turn around and they realise they do really want to be together something happens that causes them to break up. Then in the final scene it turns out the reason that caused them to split up was all one big understanding and our hero/heroine makes a mad dash to the airport to stop them in time to tell them they want to be with them forever and ever.
And I've seen way too many Lesbian movies where the girl gets with a guy at the end too! Pssh!
So I made the decision to leave the girls alone during a scene where it's just the two of them being the way they are and doing what they do, while the rest of us are hopefully looking on and waving them on their journey, because it's not the end of the line for them, just for us. :)

Dear Sky, We here in the States have same situation at times. I am speaking of the New York City Subway System?! At times it really saved me from ...?harm way getting from point start to point end The panels are super supper great and the electrical engineering in man hours of labor. GO Becky Go yeah on second thought you do have a lot of rail ties. tommym

Dear Tommym, We are pretty lucky here in the UK to have a pretty good coverage of train lines running all over the place but in more countrified areas there are sometimes these rather eerily quiet places where few trains go through every day or are even disused and you can't always be sure which it is!

This page is so much fun to look at!

Gagroovy: Becky told me off for putting too many railway tracks in as it makes for tedious colouring and tbh it hasn't been much fun drawing the same station several times over either but I wanted to try and finish with some nice art. :)

Thank you so much for the journey you've taken us on these several years. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and will miss the cast. Best of luck with all you do going forward.

JDG68: You're welcome! It's been a wonderful journey for me too :)

These kind of scenes are my favorite because you get to see how the couple communicates and plays without other people or events to focus on. I sort of see being stuck in a desolate location like this as a test of how people react in these situations: do they play, get bored and quiet, get frustrated, complain allot, show how fun and weird they are, or just talk and make jokes; that sort of thing. I like it and they are both really cute here.

I agree and it is nice to focus on them for a bit. :) Ah, the writing process is so cool and it's always fun to never run out of ideas but hard when you have to make edits and trim some of them down. It's been great reading your comic over the years!

Gemi: I much prefer writing scenes between two people as it can be much more involved emotionally but it's always a bit frustrating as I write far more than I can comfortably squeeze in to the panels so the flow tends to get broken in the editing. In the very first chapter it was mostly just Sarah and Janey so it felt nice to finish off with just the two of them again. :)

About my user pic: I designed it myself. It is from a comic I made back in the nineties. It was never published.

Have you considered posting it on the Duck? I for one would be curious enough to read it.

They ride off into our imagination...
skyangel at 11:51PM, Jan. 31, 2023
Fred: This is the thing. I felt that leaving the story fairly open ended like this gives readers a chance to imagine the rest to be any way they like.
Fruitbat44v2 at 12:15PM, Jan. 30, 2023
So the end is almost upon us, except it won't be the end for Sarah and Janey just the end for our involvement with them. That's nice.
skyangel at 11:45PM, Jan. 31, 2023
Fruitbat: They are only in their mid to late twenties so I like to think they have a life beyond this. :)
Brexeva at 11:42AM, Jan. 30, 2023
I hope the train stops. Though is does not look like an international train. (excuses for my poor English, for I am Dutch).
skyangel at 11:44PM, Jan. 31, 2023
Brexeva: It will do ;) I didn't even think about the Channel Crossing but it would have been a really fun idea to have them heading off to France thinking they were on the way to Scotland! - Your user pic is interesting, it looks like it's from a comic but I don't recognise the art.
PBandJ at 7:54AM, Jan. 30, 2023
I love how Janey is climbing up the pole! LOL!
skyangel at 11:39PM, Jan. 31, 2023
PBandJ: That was harder to draw than I imagined but I felt I had to keep them busy! XD
HawkandFloAdventures at 6:42AM, Jan. 30, 2023
I'm glad these two are getting together and they're going to live an ordinary life in Scotland. They were made for eachother :)
DarkVisor at 9:40PM, Feb. 2, 2023
Nope, it was _always_ going to be Sarah and Janey in the end, even if it was in a nursing home raising hell for the carers :P
skyangel at 11:37PM, Jan. 31, 2023
HawkandFlo: Over the years opinion as to who Sarah should end up with has bounced around a bit, Nikki being the most popular second choice but I always planned for it to be Janey and she's the one I think most readers hoped for overall too.
