SS7 182 The End
skyangel on Feb. 6, 2023
Dear Readers,
At some point in my life, not too far from this point in theirs, I made the decision to finally complete the comic which I started when I first met Sarah and Janey. We did have many wonderful years together and I shall always cherish the time we shared but it's now time for me to move on.
But before I go, it wouldn't be right to end this without saying a huge thank you to all you readers, as well as those at the Duck, who have valued us and shown so much support over the last fifteen years.
This unique little world of mine which Sarah so kindly allowed and enabled me to live again through her has been made all the more real for me especially, by sharing it with you.
And lastly, we cannot of course forget Emma and Becky, for all the hours they donated in colouring the artwork for me for so long! I have been truly fortunate to have the benefit of their talents.
Nikki

Congratulations on this. This is a dream fulfilled. Definitely ending up in the DD hall of fame.

David: Thank you! I'm so glad I did finish this in the end. It often felt like a case where if I abandoned it for too long I would lose touch and never come back.

A beautiful ending to a wonderful story. Thanks for all the years of Sarah.

PyThomas: Thank You!

That was a beautiful ending to a wonderful series well done!

HawkandFlo: Thank You! I'll have more time to catch up on yours now! XD

Thanks for the years letting us into the lives of Sarah and company. I’ve been following probably for a decade, they will be missed, which is a testament to how you told their stories! Thank you!
skyangel at 3:29PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Eudie13: I've seen you popping up again and again over the years so it's lovely that you stuck with us to the end.:) As I've said before too this comic would never have grown so big without the support of all you lovely readers who encouraged me to keep writing even when I thought I was out of ideas.

Well, so no wonder I related to Nikki in particular so much. It must have been difficult to get the criticism for how she was portrayed. Let me add my congratulations on a story well told and well depicted to Skyangel and Becky and all their other collaborators. Well done!
skyangel at 3:37PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Fred: This is also why Nikki and Sarah have always been so very close! But the odd thing is that I always felt of myself as Sarah and Nikki as someone I know which is a bit Freudian, It's also why I think I could never allow them to have a relationship together because my inner feelings towards Nikki kept rejecting her.
SaveTheRejects at 7:12AM, Feb. 7, 2023
Well. Time for a re-read I guess
skyangel at 3:46PM, Feb. 8, 2023
STR: Out of all the posts, this is the one that makes me feel guilty for stopping. I can't remember when you joined us but I know it's been a long while. You will be missed.
Ironscarf at 6:23AM, Feb. 7, 2023
What a beautiful page to end on, both in writing and art. This comic has been a wonderful achievement and if you have anything planned for us in the future, I'm in.
skyangel at 3:48PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Ironscarf: Thank you! The Duck has always been such a lovely community to be a part of so it would be nice to knock out something once in a while even if nothing major! It will be nice to read other peoples too now though. There's so many on here and in 15 years I've barely read more than a handful!
Brexeva at 6:01AM, Feb. 7, 2023
What can I say that has not been said already? Thank you for sharing your thougts. You, being a writer and artist must sooner or later feel the urge to tell another story. How about a spin off?
skyangel at 3:51PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Brexeva: I get part stories in my head all the time but it's so much work doing the art that I have to be sure I have an idea that will go somewhere and also the enthusiasm to turn it into comic art. Nikki's story is growing on me though. :)

I thought given the train had London on the back that they might have taken the wrong train and fate was not through with them. will miss your comic.
skyangel at 3:55PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Bosco: Haha I put London on the train because to get to Scotland from Essex you have to go to London first but... I did forget they have been driving for two hours so they should have been on the right line for Scotland anyway.

Thank you to Skyangel and Becky!! This has certainly been and great ride and I absolutely love the ending! I do hope that you produce another series or write a book or something; I would love to see more content from you. Also...is this story somewhat true? I really love that PS:. Great story, Skyangel, and if it has any base in reality, thanks for sharing. :) Weather how much of it is fact or fiction, writers and artists really share a part of themselves through the whole process and it's been amazing.
skyangel at 4:08PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Gemi: To answer your question fully would take more space than would fit in here. Firstly, I find turning text into comics does force me to edit conversations and scenes into much smaller portions than I would like so a written spin of sounds very appealing. As for truth, In Chapter7 page 160 Sarah says to Janey, 'There are three kinds of true: The True True, Titanic true, and Fargo!' Which pretty much is what this comic is, a mixture of true, romanticised, and pure fantasy but events that really happened have often been given to another character just purely because they fit the story better so it's quite a scrappy scrapbook! The emotions are always real though.

When we first discovered this wonderful tale, one of us (the one that wanted to write stories), couldn't get enough of it. She loved every page and every word, the simple act of creating a true slice of life, both intimate and warm and worldly and broad was breathtaking. You inspired some to take the leap (albeit, not so much in the biographical nature), but that one could indeed tell a story and somewhere you would have those that would read it and love it for what it was. Thank you so much for all of it. Thank you for giving us a proper ending. Thank you for all your work and please, thank Becky and (was it Emmaclare) any others that helped you along the way. Personally, your pages will be missed. But as with all things a good ending is a good ending and this one, dear Nikki, this one gives us all hope and a smile with the bittersweet that is saying goodbye. From one scribbner to another... Until the next time, Thank you.

Black Hat: I'm getting writers cramp from typing all these replies but I left yours until last as it's the most intriguing! Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment and it sounds like you get the same feeling from making comics that I do. I hope so anyway. I often see people talking about moneytising their comics as if that's the only thing that makes it seem worth while but there is a lot of pleasure in creating a character and living it, and the more of yourself you put into that character the more real it feels when you push that character into a fantasy. Sharing that and finding it has the same effect on others is also quite a buzz! I've put yours on my list! ;)
Coydog at 3:10PM, Feb. 6, 2023
Congrats on completing the story! Not so many people make that goal.
skyangel at 3:17PM, Feb. 8, 2023
Coydog: I know! I've seen so many comics flounder and die over the years and I've had my moments but something kept bringing me back and often it was just one heartfelt comment that made all the difference.

What a wonderful page! Congratulations to you and Becky and let's also not forget emmaclare who did the coloring in the beginnings (do i remember correctly?). This is really a fantastic story and i hope to read more of your stories some day in the future. Until then, good night and good luck ;-) Greetings from Germany!
