There's a lot of cussing going on here. I told Esseybee that MM, when she cusses, tends to use obscure cusswords from forgotten languages, and he delivered—so that's what she's saying at first. Then, there's the ever-delightful X-Pletive, whose invulnerability/healing factor/whatever depends on his cussing…sort of like Tourette's Syndrome with benefits.
It's also my first time in the comic actually drawing Fusion. Esseybee said she would be all a-glow at this point, so that's how I drew her.
From previous arcs in Mindmistress, it indicates that Lorrie only remembers things as Mindmistress very hazily and fragmentary. Not because she can't remember them, but because she is incapable of remembering them. I am currious about one thing though.
How does shutting off the device actually reverse what it already did?
Al said: "All the words are Essaybee's."
That's not entirely true. I believe Suki's line in panel 5 was a recommended edit of xmung's.
Al also said: "By dropping a hammer on his toe, I expect...."
To which I can only say, awesome concept.
I do particularly like the first panel, Al. Very nice effects. I've also warmed to your version of Suki, and I agree with a comment further down that she looks quite creepy. I'll probably add aspects from everyone else's depiction of her to the way I draw her next time I get the chance.
they both have the same amount of access to the brain, it is merely a question of level of access. thus lorelei has subconcious access to everything that mm has access to, which means that lorelei's intuition is operating at super human levels. the navy did some research in the brain's intuitive image recognition ability and found that the brain is eidetic at a subconscious level, and our conscious mind gets in the way. at this point it wouldn't take much to get lorelei using her intuition more and end up not being retarded. the whole option of mm merging the two personalities is the more problematic way of achieving the result of a very smart lorelei.
@dwrean: I was curious about that sort of thing myself. When one learns something, it uses a neural pathway. and the more one accesses that information, the more that neural pathway is built up, reinforced, and enlarged for faster and easier access, as far as my horribly outdated memory tells me. Mind you, as you get older this function gets less and less effective, but it still works. Logically speaking, Lorelei should remember bits about what MM tends to focus on.
The first frame makes me wonder something. MM is fluent enough in so many languages, that she curses reflexively in ancient tongues. This means that she has the languages well ingrained in her mind (Yes, I know, eidetic memory). What I wonder is if any of that language retention is held by Lorelei. The dichotomy is sometimes hard to fathom, since they essentially have the same mind, but different levels of access to what's inside it.
Usually the VRF (velocity-redirection-field) doesn't kick in until something is going over 100 MPH---which means those ninja stars Suki threw at MM in the Magellanverse had to be going pretty fast. Suki can pitch like a major league baseball player!
Glad so many people like the art.

I don't know if I've seen MM actually hit someone before. Normally she outsmarts people and uses their strength against them, as opposed to outright physical violence. And like Spiderman, she would have to watch out about hurting people too much with the enhanced strength her suit gives her.
It also makes me wonder how the suits deflective field interacts when she throws a punch. Is it too slow to activate the field, or does the rebound from it increase the power of the hit?
I do have to add that this is some of the best artwork I've seen from Al.
By dropping a hammer on his toe, I expect....
BTW, this is one of the few strips where I functioned PURELY as artist. All the words are Essaybee's. I resisted the temptation to add dialogue (a baaaaad weakness of mine, to want to go overboard with the dialogue).
Tourette's Syndrome doesn't work that way outside of TV, but yeah. X-Plitive is awesome. Makes you wonder how a priest discovered he gains super-powers by cursing.
Literal fallout from Energize's beatdown of Firebomb. I agree with the others--there is a really effective creepiness in your Suki that I think is lacking from a lot of ours (which tend to look more wickedly mischevious). Whole page looks great, and--I know I mentioned this before--the 2nd panel turned out especially nice.
I will say this---although the Doppelganger Gang is new, some of them have ties to already established webcomics. For instance, I have done a four-page origin of Chant, that will run later this year (probably this summer) which shows his origin in the world of an already established fantrasy wecomic.
In many ways the Doppelganger Gang spans the wide expanse of the many facets of webcomics. Suki's from a world much like some manga comics. Chant is from a fwebcomic with a antasy setting. You'll learn more about the others as the series progresses.
Suki looks like she's hopped out of a GAINAX production on this page. I think Al's been watching a little anime on the side. My favorite drawing here is panel 3, where Suki's expression is told almost entirely with the eyes.
@Tolrick: the Doppelgangers, unlike the villains assisting the Smiling Man from The Crossoverlord, are all unique to Crossoverkill. A large number of them were created and designed by either Al or the Red Death. Syko Suki and the now deceased Frio have been my only contribution, again designed specially for this series. That's to say none of them, unlike the Crossoverlord villains, have an actual originating series that they can be found in prior to Crossoverkill. However... I am working on an origin story for Syko Suki which looks at the reality she came from... look for it at some point in the future, I'm not sure of the timeline as yet. Al also has something special up his sleeve or one of his 'Gangers but I'll let him divulge that when he's ready...
I wonder... Theoretically, Fusion's probably got the best way of disposing of that bomb. Just touch it while powered up and incinerate the blasted thing
She's supposed to look creepy. Now I want to go read the comic she came from. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure which one that is.
You did good on Fusion, btw. And X-Pletive is always fun.
Faintly annoyed I never thought of that idea, to be honest.
