Okay, we got some webcomic mentions here that we've gotta get through. First of all, this page is a direct reference to The Crossover Wars. The Crossover Wars was a HUGE webcomic crossover event involving many, many webcomics, including the cast of The Crossoverlord. While reading Crossover Wars isn't at all necessary to following The Crossoverlord, there is a connection. In fact, there happens to be a linchpin between the two series that you can find here and here.
But wait, we're not done plugging other comics. Due to Al Schroeder's mind-boggling ability to keep track of continuity in other people's comics, he's basically deduced that some characters, regardless of how unrelated, must nonetheless live in the same universe. And thus, a connection is made to Energize and Bombshell, due to other implications that exist in such crossover comics as Heroes Unite and Energize/Dasien (returning later this summer, folks!). Thus, Dasien, Bombshell, Energize, and anyone else from Heroes Unite must all necessarily come from the same world. And yet another Liberty reference is made as well.
That leaves The Phalanx. The Phalanx is a superhero team from the Dasien comic series, although they've yet to actually be referenced in any explicit way. In fact, for now, they happen to be one of the best hidden easter eggs in the entire comic. In fact, they might be TOO well hidden. (HA! That ought to keep you little rascals busy!)
Now, this page started out with a completely different premise when I originally pitched it. There was going to be a lot more sniping going on here, but slowly it turned into a page about the Crossover Wars. One of the catalysts for this change was an inadvertent plothole that occurred when Dasien questioned Mindmistress about the multiverse. Technically, she should have remembered it from Crossover Wars, so we had to address that before anyone called us on it.
Next week, we hand things over to Ida as Mindmistress and Dasien add a third female heroine to their comedy…er… hero team. Stay tuned for Mechagical Girl Lisa A.N.T!
Ahhh, my mistake. I got the wrong impression from our talk of what we'll be doing. However, there is only ONE Mindmistress in all of Creation---mainly because she's desperately lonely, like a woman stuck on an island of apes, and if there are a lot of Mindmistresses running around out there, they'd detect each others' catwalks and form a Myriad of Mindmistresses somewhere.
I think it's fair to say there are less Lightbringers than there used to be, though.
Erm, actually there ARE alternate reality Lightbringers. They'll be coming up in my comic eventually and the one who participated in the final battle in the Crossover Wars was from the malleable substance thing KAM mentioned.
Explicitedly NOT true for MM, Kam. I don't want to speak for other authors---I believe the author of ACROBAT has specifically said, for instance, he thinks the Acrobat who appears in Acrobat and the Acrobat who appears in Heroes Unite are not the same (in other words, don't expect Heroes Unite to appear or be referenced in the Acrobat comic.) ....but MM's appearance in the Last Battle was her.
And...not to give anything away...but there is a rather grisly reason why there are no alternate-Earth MMs...or for that matter, Dasiens, A.N.T.s, Lightbringers, or Dead Debbies.
At least...not NOW.
It will be addressed here.
Eventually.
I forgot about the Dasien/Alternate Delusions crossover.
But what I meant was that because of the 'malleable' nature of the CameoComic universe & all the Writers/Artists involved cameo copies were created from the substance of the CC Universe. After the Final Battle they just faded back into the substance of that universe.
Makes sense to me, but seems to confuse the hell out of everyone else. *shrug*
Oh hey I remembered my login! Whoot! Nice page. :D hehee..
Of course, I hate you now. I'm going to have that song stuck in my head for WEEKS now... razza frazza.
>Net
Besides, that would open the possibility of MM meeting two Dasiens at the same time...and ONE is bad enough! *Grin*
You know, I can still mute you, Schroeder. *hovers the cursor menacingly*
And another thing. I don't really like the practice of inventing alternate reality versions of main characters, because it really only makes things more confusing, and to me, it's just a canonized acknowledgement that the author fucked up without actually fixing the problem. I hate when professional comics do that.
It's like, "Dasien displays the characteristics of A and Not-A at different times. Therefore, there's are two versions of Dasien."
NO! I would rather there be only one. A slightly convoluted explanation is always better than inventing a second version of the character.
On the other hand the fact that Dasien appeared at the Final Battle doesn't necesarily mean it was the real Dasien.
True, but she did appear in an earlier battle, where she met the characters of Alternate Delusions.
Could be, just as most worlds would have a Newton, a Galileo, a Hitler, an Einstein. However, the MM in CROSSOVER WARS and THE CROSSOVERLORD is definitely the same one as in the main MM strip.
On the other hand the fact that Dasien appeared at the Final Battle doesn't necesarily mean it was the real Dasien. Given the unique nature of the CameoComic universe it could simply have been a cameo copy of Dasien.
Heck, my own characters met themselves that way.
;-)
Thanks for notifying me about this; I'd been thinking about how to incorporate the other heroes from HU into the Bombshell universe. My thought is that Bombshell is to Heroes Unite what Batman is to the Justice League: In JLA the sci-fi aspects of the Batman mythos are stressed, and his weaknesses neglected, whereas in his own books he's often portrayed as more human, in a more realistic environment. So while I acknowledge the existence of superhumans and sci-fi elements, I use them on a smaller scale when working on the Bombshell comic.
BTW, I hope I can get back to actually reading your comics soon... there's still some archives I'll have to raid, and yours are at the top of my list.
love the expression, and I know The Phalanx, mentioned only once or twice. Course, I occasionally re-read all my comics if I really really like them. since I read yours two times already then I caught that little detail :P

Really enjoy the interaction between these two. As I've said before, very nice scripting!

I approve this comic 100%. And you have my eternal respect for bringing Dasien and Indefensible positions together. I've been missing IP... :(

I'd been cool if she would've sung the entire song, better than the original. Curious about the Crossover Wars now...

Namedropper. *Grin* Nice art, Neil! I especially like the way the "catwalk" turned out....and of course, Dasien is always easy on the eyes.
