Now, for something completely different…the first of three beautiful pages by Ida, the creator of ANT. This to me is one of the charms of this series—to see several creators' take on a variety of characters, both in dialogue and artistic style…and I think we can agree Ida did an outstanding, knockout job. (I have rarely seen MM done so well, yet in a totally different style. And her Dasien is nothing to sneeze at, either.)
Speaking of knockouts—next week ANT's enthusiasm earns her—well, you'll see.
Her eyes show. But as Neil said, we're letting each artist make their own decisions. (She does have eyeshields that come down in certain situations. We can justify by saying she sometimes brings them down to guard against glare.) But as the MM expert, I think I can give the "canon" version.
Wrong on all counts! She's actually changing her cowl between scenes! She gets mighty sweaty under there, don'tcha know!
No, actually, it's an artistic difference. I, personally, like drawing MM with her eyes obscured, and some of the other guys prefer drawing her eyes under the mask.
There's a similar phenomenon with other masked heroes, such as the Flash or Batman. Although, they probably don't necessarily go back and forth within the pages of a single storyline, I must admit.
There are other differences, too. I don't think any two of us draw the cross-hatching on MM's costume the same way.
The one thing we agreed upon when starting this up was that creator interpretation would be embraced, as long as we're not wholesale changing wardrobes from one page to the next.
*De-lurks* Been following the comic for a while, and this page brings up a question I have had for a while. Can Mindmistresses' eyes be seen through her visor,as on this page, or are they hidden in white, as on the previous page, a la Batman? Or am I just waay overthinking this, and its all just artistic differences?*Re-lurks*
The artistic inspiration for MM's armor, similarly unrealstically form-fitting, by the great Jim Steranko---the Yellow Claw's overall body armor, as shown on the cover of "Behold the Savage Sky".

Yeah, I know. It was an inspiration. I didn't say it was as good as.
I deliberately draw Mindmistress unrealistically. I tried to conceptualize a realistic Mindmistress costume, and I just see her as a human disco ball, and it would probably blind you as each little square on her suit periodically catches the light just right.
When I draw her, I draw her armor as though it was cloth. My thought is that she's smart, therefore she can invent an armor that flexes and folds like cloth.
Yes, that's my entire explanation.
Armor. Admittedly unrealistically, very snug-FITTING armor---but look at Iron Man. It's exoskeletal armor that amplifies her strength twelvefold and her speed triples---giving her strength and agility in Spider-Man's range, not Superman's.
I did a four-page "feature" about her armor starting at http://mindmistress.comicgenesis.com/suit1.htm which would answer more questions.
You'll see the answer to that in the third of Ida's pages, Hogan. But very perceptive. Dasien doesn't speak Danish. MM tends to learn langauges by the dozens (she cusses in obscure languages, like ancient Mayan or Basque) ...and you'll see about Ida/ANT and Io.
I just noticed that while Lisa (off course) and MM both speak Danish (nicely pulled MM!), Dasien speaks English... seems like we could get some languagetrouble on our hands in the future :P

Really like the style of this page. ANT looks to be another fun addition to the team.

Have to agree with everyone else (boring, I know!) Ida's take on these characters is adorable!

This is the one I've been waiting for. ANT is such a goofy character that we can't help writing goofy scenes for her.

Welcome to Denmark MM and Dasien! :P This is a style I have really waited to see the rest of the crew rendered in, and I'm SO not disappointed! :D
