Now, this is my FAVORITE of Ida's pages. The super-enthusiastic leap, the casual block by Dasien, the sarcastuc “yes, SIR!”–all pitch-perfect.(BTW, Ida did them in black and white. Neil of DASIEN did the coloring, being careful to take his color pallette from ANT's own comic.)
Next week is my second-favorite, as Io, the little alien insectoid who owns Ant's armor, speaks up….
And there have now been TWO updates of Dasien since that latest plug---as Dasien, believe it or not, wonders if her boobs are too big...
Just one update of Mindmistress, but at least she's actually IN it. (And she thinks her boobs are just right.)
For fans of Ida's art, ANT updated today with Lisa dancing, of all unlikely things...(click on the link above...)
Also, Lightbringer updated yesterday---with our hero saved by a mysterious figure with metallic hands...
And Mindmistress updated LATE yesterday, albeit without Mindmistress (she's coming, I promise) with some deadly monkey business in Mindmist.
Got me. Io, the little insect-alien who's in charge of the armor, started to explain it to Lisa/A.N.T., but then Lisa went off on a tangent (imagine that!) and we never saw the answer.
Oh, this is just one of the things that attracted me to ANT the first time around, the euthiasm of the young Superhero/Magical Girl! She don't heed MM's speech, she just gets the key elements she needs and are literally jumping into action before thinking twice (or even once) :P
... and Dasien gets to show what the group's powerhouse is useable for! ;)
12 to Ida for this strip!
The part that I find most humorous is that even ANT's grunt of pain has translation brackets around it. It was like that in the script, and I found it so hilarious that I left it as is, without any question.
Hey! Is Ida trying to out-fan-service me here? Those are some rather leggy poses that Dasien is making, and the cut-out below her neck seems to have descended a bit to show some cleavage. Not that I mind; I'm just saying.
Earlier this year, Ida Kirkegaard's computer crashed, and we were worried that she wouldn't be contributing any art for at least the first few chapters. Fortunately, she came back just in time to submit three black and white pages, which she lacked the time to color. I took up the task of coloring, and I chose to mimic Ida's coloring as close as possible.
The reason I had attempted to emulate Ida's coloring was so that the pages would reflect her style alone. Basically, my feeling was that it was an ANT comic, so it should LOOK like an ANT comic. And I withheld my contribution purely out of curiosity, to see if any of her fans would notice the difference. As far as I could tell, nobody noticed, although I can certainly see the differences. Although I can mimic, the essence of Ida's work is unique to her alone.

Oof! That third panel looks painful. Anyway, art and script continue to be a lot of fun.

And as long as Al is plugging individual comics, I will take this opportunity to announce that Dasien has just updated mere moments ago.

There had been a moment when Io was about to reveal the meaning of A.N.T., but she didn't get to finish. So until now it is unknown ;)

Excellent looking page and very funny. The art is fun and bouncy and the writing, particularly Ant is well done.

This has got to be my favorite page so far. "Sir?" These two remind me of Marcie and Peppermint Patty.:)

Ha! I know we all said it on the previous page but ... Loving this take on the characters!
Linkara at 10:51PM, July 7, 2008
Ah, the casual strongwoman. Always gotta love the Das. ^^
