@Lilac: Thanks for being the voice of reason here. I totally agree with you and you are sooo right about her character development deary :3! She's still a young woman, she hasn't yet developed in to the bad ass we know yet xD

I can't believe how hard everyone's being on Orn. She's been pretty strong considering all she's gone through, and heck even women who have normal pregnancies still go through a massive depressive stage after sometimes. I think it would be incredibly OOC for her to come out of this without having a severe bought of depression. Besides, strength isn't something you're born with. It's something you get as you go through hardships in life. The reason why Orn is so strong in The Faction is because of all these terrible things she's had to live through. It's part of her development as a character. My heart bleeds for her.

I think that every character, no matter how strong, needs shades of vulnerability.
Besides, is pretty understandable that she gets on such state of depression, he lost her child, he lost her husband and probably the ability to conceive again... that does kinda bruises anyone's psyche...

I so hate how people feel that if they cannot breed they are incomplete.

What about supporting the living one?

@Darwin: Orn was a different gal back before The Faction days. And we've all had pity parties before, it's just the human thing to do @.@. To lose a child suddenly as well as be deemed possibly "infertile" is tough. Considering the circumstance, I think she deserves to bitch and moan at least some xD.

Poor old Orn. I agreed with Usedbooks... and also, having seen what having an ectopic pregnancy did to my sister, I can say that Orn's reactions are pretty realistic. I'm sure she'll find a way to bounce back though, she's a tough cookie.

There's nothing wrong with that... It's tough yes, but incomplete is quite offensive

I agree with Used Books this seems a bit OOC for her - and that's actually pretty scary (depressed, suicidal, etc). She's always rebelled against her tribe's traditions, learned to hunt, to make weapons. She's always been strong. So yeah this pity party? Knock it off - it's a low and stinging blow, but these words don't sound at all like you!

@usedbooks: Good points. Women often lose their true identities when they get caught up in relationships, marriage, child rearing etc. Considering the somewhat misogynistic culture she was brought up in (boys seen as leaders, girls seen as baby making machines. Hell, her own father couldn't have set the precedent any better!), she's most likely been lead to believe that this IS her sole purpose for living.
She's still young, she'll see the light and she'll most likely rediscover what she was really meant to do in life as she ages i'm sure ^.~

For a lesser woman, maybe that's all she has, brought up with those types of philosophies. But 1. Orn is a hunter/warrior. Being a baby factory is not her only identity. And 2. She HAS a child. Even if she never has another one, she's already a mother. That's not a temporary role. It doesn't end when the kid starts solid food. It's forever. Some women have neither of those things. Some women get NOTHING. I'm sure Orn will realize this eventually and knock off the moping. (Although, I know infertility is not the true source of her depression. It opened her floodgate to Milek, and she's just transferring it. Even without that, a girl is entitled to an occassional pity party.)
