There's this trope that main character must be serious and not take the glory away from the side characters, actually. In a way I can totally see why because if a main character become too much they can easily come close to being a bit of a mary sue with all the attention on them, and the fact the story in general dont flow as nicely if they're too funny all the time XD But i think as long as one is aware it needs to be toned down during times its supposed to be very serious, its ok. I dont think i could write an all serious comic though lol
