Fusion #4 Page 46
EssayBee on Aug. 9, 2011
Here's page 46 of Fusion #4; only a 2-page Epilogue to go before this issue comes to a close.
I think Brooder may be showing off a bit on this page. After being smug about his knowledge of Lord and his genetic enhancement program, he changes the subject to show that he knows what's going on in Fusion's private life too. Psycho stalker or caring for his brood?
You also may have noticed the addition of some ads on the left side of the page. Ads should link to the Crossoverkill site and take you directly to the areas on Indyplanet where you can order print copies of Fusion. Hopefully the addition of these ads doesn't clutter the page up too much.
I'm currently looking into some other things to do with the site that will hopefully help Savunn herself take a more active part in the story (without bogging down the actual comic narrative) as well as interact with you folks more. I'll keep you posted as this develops.

Yeah, I could see her going through a couple of cell phones before she figured that out :D

If you're the "badass normal" in the bunch, you have to be able to manipulate everyone friends and foes alike to survive.

Brooder comes over as a bit too manupulative here. If I were X-Pletive I would have had a few choice words to say. The bad thing about chess masters is that they tend to think of their allies as pawns.

In any case, X-Pletive is suddenly among my favorite characters now.

Am I the only one left with the impression that Brooder engineered this whole encounter to get Lord interested in Fusion? Lord has now met the new hero in town, who has just claimed to be strong enough to take on Captain Stupendous, and Brooders comments on page 45 hint that might actually agree that she could do it. And better still, Lord would have no idea that cloning is probably useless for reproducing her powers.

Brooder is awesome. I guess that's pretty much because batman is awesome, but still.

when someone who you count on for experience leads you to defeat it diminishes their image, and your willingness to follow in the future. thus turning a defeat into a victory in the eyes of those you lead is important, which is also difficult when you are feigning weakness to your enemy. if you pump up those under you too much then they reveal your hand, not enough and they won't stay under you for much longer. the cell phone thing does two important things in this regard, one: it shows that he is good at knowing things, and two: that the one with the least loyalty is given a reward for part in things. granted it also lets her know, rather subtly at that, is that he might be able to take her down if need be, that he doesn't fully trust her, and that her personal life is not exactly personal anymore.

Ozmandious--You'll find out what Riveter cooks up next issue, but Brooder is working off of his deductive reasoning. In this case, the solution is fairly simple (and will be explained next issue). smkinoshita--You may be right about Brooder being reassuring and not smug. He keeps his thoughts to himself, so it's hard to get a read on him sometimes. AzuJOD--You're right. Plus Lord knows how to schmooze to politicians and has great PR, which makes it all the more important to use your head when confronting him.

@Ozmandious -- Depends on how much Fusion's "better half" is holding back. For example, there's regular "utility flight" that won't melt a super-cell... and then there's "I mean business" mode that will, but isn't used due to collateral damage.
smkinoshita at 9:14AM, Aug. 9, 2011
I thought Brooder wasn't so much being smug as being reassuring to his team mates that he's got things under control. Sometimes people need to know that they have a chess master on their team to counter their enemy's chess master.

The scariest part of this comic is that Brooder just told Fusion he knows how to get around her power; if he can make a cell phone that works for her he can make a jail cell that will hold her, a power damper that will affect her, etc.

5. You have to a fight a man like Lord with your mind rather than your fists.
