Fusion #6 Page 1

Here's page 1 of Fusion #6, and it seems some trouble's already brewing.
Darmar was briefly mentioned in Issue #4 (page 26). It's a country in Africa with a corrupt government that endorses the genocide of ethnic minorities and the slaughter and maiming of various dissidents.
Alanna Alliteration was introduced at the close of Issue #1, and she's perhaps most famous for being the girlfriend of Captain Stupendous (although they both deny having a relationship).
Also, as with the space shuttle at the end of Issue #4, the Humvee in the background was traced from an image found in Google Images. I simplified the design a bit, however, and the coloring is all mine.

Tolrick--Precisely, on all counts.

btw: excellent artwork, as usual.

She's not wearing a flak jacket cause she's in the Embassy yard. It's as far away from the combat zone as you can get for a field reporter. Doesn't sound like she's asking what he means by 'incoming', but more asking what's incoming, or a little surprised someone's firing at the Embassy itself. As far as the humvee being armored in the area, it's sort of standard military issue to be armored, so nothing unusual there.

i love the hummer in the background.

XD Oh, the irony of an alliterative name in this case! Also, it looks interesting! Great way to start the next issue up!

Alliteration? How in god's name does one end up with that last name. Was there an Albert the Adement or a Lady Lilliana of Lithuania or something in her bloodline somewhere?

Hopefully she'll be more useful than Lois Lane ever was . . . but I doubt it. Reporters rarely are X)

Dumb idiot

She's not too bright is she? Covering a war zone and doesn't know what "incoming" means? And why is she not wearing a flak jacket? Did it clash with her makeup, or just with that little thing called a will-to-survive?

hmm, looks like they were expecting trouble, that is an up armored humvee and an officer rides in that one, so the rest of his unit must be nearby. the soldier letting her know that their are rounds incoming isn't an officer though, and is equipped as one who might be stationed inside the embassy, aside from being a different nation's soldier. those things aren't too common, even for an embassy under siege, so she is going to be in a lot of trouble real soon.

dragonestea--I also was initially taught that alliteration applied to beginning consonant sounds and assonance applied to repeated vowel sounds (but not necessarily limited to beginning vowel sounds). I later had poetry professors say that alliteration applied to beginning phonetic sounds, in which case Alanna Alliteration would be alliterative. Of course, no literary debate can hide the fact that "Alliteration" is a ridiculous last name (although I figure you all know the gag behind her name).
Mr Kaos at 7:50AM, May 8, 2012
cool.
dragonestea at 7:28AM, May 8, 2012
fun fact: ironically, Alanna Alliteration's name is not alliterative. Alliteration only applies to consonants, therefore the word "alliteration" is incapable of participating in the technique it's describing.

incoming kaboom?
