Here's page 2 of Fusion #6, and Alanna finds out that the incoming projectile is a bit unorthodox, although it's perhaps a lot more dangerous after hitting the ground.
The greatest example of durable hair was Wonder Man being blasted by his brother's scythe hard enough to knock him through the wall and completely destroying the front of his shirt, but didn't even singe his chest hairs. That's when I realized that Wonder Man was truly a tough guy.

jamoecw--Plus this is an E-rated comic. Clothing has to be extra-durable. Actually, Lord Industries has a textiles division that makes durable clothing for supers, as well as for military purposes. It'll play into Riveter's backstory, which will probably get some explanation in this story arc. (Actually, the backstories of Riveter, Captain Stupendous, and--especially--Brooder will be explored this story arc. And, no, Brooder's parents weren't murdered in front of him.)
don't forget his shorts as well. typically there is little explanation for their costumes surviving explosions and fires. their hair can just be because they are tough, and it caries over to their hair, unlike their clothing.
dwrean--Funny enough, I thought the exact same thing when I colored the page. But since Superman, Hulk, and pretty much every other hero never loses their hair in a fight or explosion, I figure this brute can have similarly strong hair. I think all of these types of characters must use a special kind of hair conditioner.
