Page 06 - Chase

This “comic” will detail the characters in the comics FIGHT and FIGHT_2. Art by Mlai, cg colors by JustNoPoint.
Chase is pretty much the reason I created F2. At first I scripted only a side-story chapter for her in F1, but it soon ballooned into a story all its own.
Did I ever mention that I'm a big King Arthur nut? I had an entire bookshelf devoted to books on the historical King Arthur and Roman Britain. I didn't used to pay much attention to the legendary King Arthur, but in order to flesh out the character better (for the comic), I read the entire 900+ pages of Le Morte D'Arthur. Reading it taught me how to write in Middle English as well.
So, here's my hero King Arthur… but packaged in the form of a cute girl! And the story she came from is a masterpiece. This character was tailor-made for meeeeeee. The danger with such a character is, of course, a story that devolves into fan-wank. If you ever wondered why everyone else seemed to have more screentime than Chase, it's because I worked hard to remain objective.
(The wound-treatment chapter wasn't fan-wank I swear. I really felt it was good/cool scripting.)
The biography is a mix of Arthurian legend and Roman Britain history, based on my (ahem) extensive knowledge of both.

O, okay that's cool. Just trying to see what sources your calling form so I can easily see where your version of Chase/Saber is from. It's easier to do it your way since the Fate saber's back story is ever changing (like the sudden introduction of Lancelot in in Fate/Zero) do to the fact that Fate is an ongoing series unlike most of the series you use character from.

@ Pat: High praise. :D Sometimes I wish I never mentioned that the comics are fan comics, so I could slip under the Platinum Comics radar that stipulated that no fan comics can ever be featured. That way, I could at least hope. @ Corn: I discount Caliburn as a separate sword from Excalibur. Therefore not only do I discount that aspect of the Malory legend, I also discount that corresponding part of her original fiction. When it comes to King Arthur, I will often use as much actual history as possible. According to linguistics, Excalibur was originally a legendary Irish weapon, translated into Welsh, then Latinized and eventually renamed by the time of the French books. Caliburn was 1 of the early names of Excalibur. There will be (many) parts of legend and history that can never mix. For example, the Middle English that she uses in F2 is 1000 years later than the Latin/ Welsh that the real Arthur would have spoken. But I keep it for flavor.

You forgot about Caliburn since that was Saber's original sword from her past. King Arthur had Caledfwlch which is its welch name, it was latinized as Caliburnus or Caliburn which was the name for Saber's original sword. "Culhwch and Olwen" calls it Caledfwlch too so it doesn't really matter. Just trying to help as a fellow King Arthur nut. XD

I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out who Chase was. All of the Fight 2 characters were so obscure that I actually had no idea that Fight 2 was a fan comic until you actually said it!
