Girlsquadx book one, back cover
fallopiancrusader on May 16, 2016
The back covers of this comic book series were conceived of as a series of fake car ads. They were all designed as the ultimate luxury cars for a society that worships conspicuous consumption, vicious opulence, and empty celebrity.
This car was named after Ashley Bickerton, who was a prominent artist during the “post-modern” art movement of the 1980s. Even within the context of that decade, which I consider the nadir of western art, his work stood out to me as being particularly loathsome.
(This car ad features a tongue-in-cheek cameo appearance by my girlfriend at the time)
Artwork in pen and ink, markers, and gouache

That looks like very much like a hybrid of the Batmobile and Lady Penelope's pink Rolls. I'm not complaining though as it looks gorgeous!

I envy your ability to produce stunning background art. Can't wait to see more of these!

Damm you went over the top with that. You need to adjust it up a little. 500 HP was a lot in 1990 but a Corvette comes standard with 450 HP & 650 HP is available.

Got to agree about the 1980's as a new low in Western Art. You should see the movie "The Magic Christian " a marvelous satire of wealth and conspicuous consumption.

Don't know why, but that car immediately made me think of "The Homer," that ridiculous futuristic car Homer Simpson designed. I guess it's the bubble windshield.
