The best laid plans...

News:
Ah, I’ve just updated Pink Skin, my Pinky TA spin-off comic. (Silly humour)
Page description:
Pinky is cruising South under the surface of the bottle-green Mediterranean ocean towards the Tunisian coast. On the way she passes under a French minelayer, scoffing at their efforts at protecting the coast when she clearly has no trouble bypassing the sea-mines. All the while she reviews the plans of this base at Matmata she’s meant to put out of action, forming a plan of attack as she goes, (she’s a professional, she can do that sort of thing).
Commentary:
There is a cameo by Cyberna from Coydog’s UNA Frontiers. If you’re not following it, you should be!
Yet another page with tiny panels. I was going for major exposition stuff here I suppose… There’s a lot of text and a funky green/red layout. I’d never drawn underwater scenes before, so all this was an experiment. Well, the page before had some underwater stuff, so I suppose that was the first, but my heart wasn’t into it then, OK?
Finally, there’s “a whole lotta†stuff in the cockpit there. That was another tricky one to work out: what to put where? You see, I use zero references for that stuff, this entire page was done purely from imagination… But that’s beside the point, back to the cockpit; you can see her fury hat nestled next to the fan, her flame-rifle behind the seat, a medical kit on top of a tool box… It’s fun squeezing that stuff in, I could almost imagine being in there myself.
Writer's challenge!
We’ve started up a weekly writer’s challenge in the forums. Each week writers try writing a short fanfic based on the characters of a DD comic we choose for that week. The first comic is Two Moons. See the details and entries here. It’s a fun way to practise your writing ^_^
A note:
Go to my main site for the latest work (27th January, 2006). I’m uploading one page a day with commentary and explanations here.

Hehehe, chess game, Red skull, Very canny comments there ^^ Yeah, all those views took a bit of thinking. What does a totally made up machine look like from all different angles? I tried making a 3D model in lightwave, but it just never looked right...

What a cool shark.

I thought that fish looked peculiar. You've got some very ineteresting shots of the scout in there.

Yeah, sea anemones that'll blow your body apart if you touch them... yeah... real pretty. Haha! I actually like the placement of the red panels that hold Pinky and the green-blue panels of things outside.

RED SKULL! What is life indeed without experimentation? p.s. ozone there's something for you on gradzilla *bites bottom lip*

That fourth panel is still cool...

I remeber this. Certaintly a lot of text though. The pannels are slightly constricting.

It gives the appearance of a chess board- which is apt considering the game of war they're playing here. Ocean mine here.. check by rook... pawn advance... doot doot doot. ^_^ Yea for creative layout.

Thanks guys ^_^ What's life if not for experimentation. You never know about something untill you try it eh? Just try underwater scenes and you'll find how well you can do them!

Hmm...you're amazing. To pull of this crazy shit with zero references? Wooww. And I always loved the lay out in this page anyways, I think it belongs to one of my favouriter pages! Nice underwater effects dude!

I still dig the red lighting in the cockpit thing also... the shading is just really cool looking.

That really was an awesome cameo! ^.^ I really love the way you did the bubbles.
Coydog at 9:32PM, Jan. 31, 2006
I love the way you contrast red and green lighting schemes here. Ooo, lovely green waves and bubbles. And thanx for the plug!

The red/green contrast is very well handled, and I like the break up of the top of the page :)

Yeah, we've seen it before, but it's just as good the 2nd time around :D
