Chapter 3 page 19

So here's the thing…Feeling mucho better. Except for a slight tickle at the back of my throat, I feeling better than I was. Which brings me to this page. This one came together so well for me…especially compared to page 18. I love playing with elongated panels…horizontal or vertical. I like the way you can try and fit shapes into them and play with the positive and negative spaces you create. A coupe things with this page. I was trying to achieve a certain feel. A feeling of impending dread. The noose will begin to tighten around our friend Frank. That's the reason of the gradual elongating panels until we see the smoking cig butt almost surrounded and trapped in the last panel.
Also I tried to keep the readers eye traveling up and down. Keeping the text top to bottom left to right. Ex. Panel one has the text at top and then I have the hand and fingers pointing down to the following text. Let me know if this works…
Which now brings me to the infamous page 18. Superman has Luthor, Batman has the Joker, Punisher has Jigsaw….I have page 18. Which even now irritates me to know end to look at. Amazing what a week and a handful of cold meds can do. SO next weeks page will be th ere-edited version of page 18. Don't know how I can do that but I'll figure that out by next week. The following week, page 20 we're going to find out what' with all the tattooed faces. And the noose will continue to tighten. Thanks for comments and the well wishes during my medical crisis. =) See ya next week.

Nice realistic lighting the smoke with the butt... I chain smoke on occasion when I know I wont get a break for 4-5 hours, and you did that wonderfully!!! *Why is it.... I can never catch this comic on it's upload date?!?!?! I'm always late!!! **about your socks...... my washer ate um (would have said drier, as most American driers eat socks, but I don't have one)...

Sysli- No..your not wrong. The look in Dre's eyes are right on the money. It's about pickin' the battles you can win...and this one he can't. At least right now. Glad you liked the page lay out. Jim

A-eee, I've been really out of it, haven't I? Missing an update by a whole day. Shame on me. Ni-iiiiiice Jim. Really nice. Especially that look in Marcus's eyes in panel 3, I don't know why, but it seems so... lurking-rebel. Like he's accepted that it's got to be that way, but he sure as hell doesn't like it. Maybe I'm just imagining things, it wouldn't be the first time. And it works for me. The increasing black was a nice guide too. And I love that last thin white "ghost frame". I don't know if it's supposed to be there, but I like it. I'm looking forward to seeing where we're going, I'm sure I'd never guess it if I tried. A joy as always Jim, and see you next week. -Sysli

CHIP- It's what I love about this place. It's like having a group of editors on hand....As far as buying goes...not...just....yet. Soon though. Thanks for the input...it's going into my notes on the dummy copy for future printing.

Ooohh... I gotta admit that I still can barely tell that's happening. I still love the page, but I'm really struggling with the visual connect. It's a great device, but I wonder if he could have been holding the new smoke to his lips with the left hand while he lit it with the butt in his right hand...? It ain't no real biggie. By the by, when the hell can I buy this, DAMNIT!

CHIP- It's your job to keep me on track and on my toes. =) Actually the cig butt on the floor is what he had prior to pulling his gun. He's now lighting a new one with said butt and discarding that butt in the fourth panel.....Hmmmm this may mean I have problem in continuation or clarity. Did any one notice how many butts I had in that statement....Thas'a lotta' butts. Thanks for the keen eye oldtimer. =0) Jim

More shite from you! Wonderous page, except... How'd his fag get so damned long all of a sudden in p3? And why'd he switch hands twice? Right. Right. Left. Right? Why not just drop it from his left hand? Yeah, I'm an anal MFer. Sue me. The hand in p3 is seriously kick ass. Actually, despite my old-man griping, this is a beautiful page. It's easy to see how effortless it was.
